My wife has a 2002 escape v6 and the light came one about 3 days ago and at the time she said it was flashing and the car was shaking when it was idling at a stop sign or light.I checked it out when she got home the light is on but not blinking so I ran a test on the car and it say theres a #5 cylinder misfire. But the engine light stoped blinking and hasnt for about 2 days now do you think the problem is over with? or should I change the plugs and coil on #5? The car doent shake anymore and hasnt for about 2 days and the idle is fine now. So what do you think I should do?:uhoh:

Reset the computer and see if the code comes back.

Today I droped all new spark plugs and changed out #5 with a new coil. I reset everything and drove it all day and the engine light never came back on. I think it's fixed

The plugs were just worn, there are about 55,000 miles on it and the plugs were do at 60,000. The coil i'm thinking was the problem though because there was still life in them plugs I have seen alot worse plugs work alot longer so im putting my money on the coil pack. I know one thing changing the plugs on this car makes me hate the motors that are mounted sideways :banghead: ! lol I had to remove all that crap just to get to them 3 damn plugs.O well,
Later~:grinno:
