Exhaust Advice?

I currently have a 2000 Z71 exteneded cab 4wd. Up until now the only modification I have made to the exhaust is switching out stock muffler with an inexpensive magnaflow which provided minimal throaty sound. My question is in regards to running straight pipes back from catalytic converter. Will this kill all the torque my truck currently has and will it be too obnoxiously loud? Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The answer is no.. infact you will get more torque and power with this setup.
It is exactly what I have. no muffler, straight back to the bumper.. at least until the pipes rusted off.. DAMN MIDAS CHEAP SHIT!
so right now I have a 4" single pipe comming out the passenger side before the tire.. and wow, let me tell you.. it is pretty loud in the morning. and everybody will hearing you comming down the road when you step on it.

imo it will be obnoxiously loud. there's a truck down the street that sounds like it has straight pipe or maybe a cherry bomb. whatever it is it's annoying as hell when he drives by because he sets off alot of people's car alarms. he probably thinks its cool though.

When Idle it is not that loud beleive it or not. I beleive the guy on your street may have cherry bombs like you suggested. The exhaust only gets really loud when you really step on it and it is a deep throaty sound, not a butt slapping sound.

Yeah I don't want my truck to sound like my Harley but biggest concern was lack of back pressure with no mufflers. I am sure the computer will reconform to whatever specs it has to with new pipes but running pipes straight back seems to be cheapest alternative to expensive dual exhaust system. Any more info would be great, thanks for responses thus far.
