i know we've discussed what type of locks people use but i was wondering HOW people use their locks.

i usually don't lock my bike, other than the ignition, in "good" areas or if i'm not far away or gone for long. if i'm gone more than an hour i use a disc lock on the front.

if i'm gone longer or in a dodgy area i use a Krytonite chain through the hole in my swingarm and through the wheel, back over through the rear shock and locked to the rear footpeg.

how do you guys lock up? is their a problem with certain ways of securing your bike?.

i never use a disc lock without the curly cord reminder up to the throttle.
i have tried to move off with a disc lock and cracked my front fender.:banghead:

i us a bicycle chain and feed it through the swing arm, through the wheel and then back around the swing arm...basically the same thing you do....and if its a bad neighborhood i ask the person if I can park it in their garage or on the side of the house...that way it's not even a temptation for some asshole to get at it...

My bike sucks, so I don't do shit... just take the key with me.

I've stolen my own bike before... lost the key, had a locked steering head, so we got a friend with a pickup to bring it down, and I stole my bike.

bike theft's not a big prob around here and i got full coverage on my insurance so i don't have any extra security.

My bike has factory anti-theft/alarm, and I use the OEM fork lock and a disc lock. I want what's mine to stay mine. Plus, if they ever got caught by me, they'd pray for the police to show up!!
