I am upgrading my front stage now. I need a pair of 6.5" coaxial type speakers that sound about as good as a coaxial can. I don't want to make any mods to my doors, so that is why i won't be getting components. They need to play with authority down to 70hz, have a nice smooth mid to high range, and handle around 80-100 rms each. I plan on spending up to $250 on the pair. Any sugguestions?

From what ive heard rainbow is top notch for comps so i would assume that there coax. speakers are good to.
Look on ebay for c/d/t, mb quart, and ive heard good things about diamond and boston acoustics.
You shouldnt have to spend more than 150 for a great set of coaxial speakers, if you look at compnents look into ones that arent flush mount, you can usually mount them from the back of the tweeter so you can put them on your pillars, dash etc.

Honestly, thats a bit expensive for some component speakers...you could upgrade many more things rather than component speakers for $319, just my opinion though, check ebay.

Id go HU before i go vr3 for the rears, as for the rears id say a set of mb quart discus series, ive had mine for a long time and they sound amazing, for 6x9's on the HU.
Actually thats respectable for a set of comps, ive seen them upwards of 1500 for the top of the line ones, i paid 170 for mine, they where new but i got them from someone else offline.

sounds like bjboertje is turning to the darkside :D
To me it's a natural progression, the problem with ALL bump is .... that's all you have, on most of those systems you can barely hear what they are saying. It's VERY impressive when the sound is crystal clear AND you have deep, authoritative bass.
