bov return hose to spool turbo?

yeah....i heard that if you attach a hose to your blow off valve and run it into the turbo intake that the pressure released will go back into the turbo and keep it spooling so that you are always spooling which mean of course you keep making power...sounds like a good idea that could work but ive never seen it done...anybody done it?...or pics?...thanks:thinkerg:

Eh well doesnt the blow off release pressure when you let off the throttle, since the plates close and theres too much pressure? So if it was blowing into the turbo to spool it, and you werent on the throttle, it seems like it would be useless. Im probably wrong though...

Good idea, but the boost coming back in would blow your system. What if the boost was collected in a compression tank (somehow) then released when the throttle is hit again?

My friend had an SR20DET in his 240SX and he had a closed loop on his bov he sayed that it was for keeping the turbo spooled but im really not sure but iknow you can do it

When you say "run it into the turbo intake" do you mean the intake for the turbine (exhaust side) or the compressor (air side)?

I'm pretty sure he means the exhaust side. As in using the the pressure that is released by the BOV to blow back through the exhaust intake and spool the turbine so as to decrease turbo lag.

Think of it as attaching a generator to an electric motor and then using the power from the generator to power the motor :)

Or a more realistic example would be the mis-firing systems used on rally cars to keep the turbo spooled, where a small ammount of uncombusted fuel mixture is released into the exhaust system then ignited and the expanding gases are used to spool the turbo to eliminate lag.

I think that the first analogy was more in the spirit of the original post (perpetual motion machine). The BOV shouldn't be dumping fuel, in most setups, right?

the only reason most cars vent blow off valves back into the intake stream like sr20det's and 4g63's is because they have mass air flow systems that have allready metered the air and corrected fuel for it. so by running an open BOV in a car with a MAF senser you would in between shifts be running overly rich because fuel would exist in the mixture for air that was metered and then vented away. some people will tell you it will only run like shit inbetween hard shifts only but its bullshit 90% of the time because turbo cars are so touchy with how they act to begin with. for example two mitsu eclipses that we run with, one is a 96 and the other is a 98, the 96 before the big 16g could run an open bov as the 98 couldnt or it would stall 50% of the time. so venting (and decompressing) intake charge back into the intake stream before the compressor will do nothing since it is returning to atmosphere unless your on a maf system then you almost have to but not for spooling reasons.

Is the MAF on the high-pressure or low-pressure side of the turbo on those vehicles?
