RM Fireball

It's been a while since I have done a bike. With all these new custome kits out there I decided to finally get one. I went with the RM fireball

I like the stance and rake right out of the box so no major mods. I considered a little more rake but decided to keep with the bobber. The rear fender will need to be chopped, and I will need to figure out how to make a sissy bar and different exhausts. I am more old school than new so I will use the spoked rims, not the mags pictured. Paint has yet to be decided.

Yes there are real flames in the kit and they look good. They are the same as pictured on the box.

I finished the basic paint on the fireball today. The frame, oil tank and primary are dark cherry pearl by model master and the base coat on the tank and fender is tamiya TS 21 gold. I still need to spray clear. I'm not sure if I will do a graphic on the tank or not. I painted the front fender but it will probably not be displayed but who knows. The only mod I did was to shorten the rear fender. I bent a piece of styrene for a sissy bar but I don't think I will use it.

Looks good, didn't know there was a Fireball kit out, I tought Revell made 4 chopper kits.. Guess I will need this one too :-)

Just build the Wild Ace one a couple weeks ago, this was a fun kit.

Thanks for the info, gonna grab this kit and the Gambit one too when modelexpress will get them. Even if the only things that change in the kits are the wheels and the decals, they are fun to build :)

I didn't know there were six, I think I only saw four. They are fun, there's no question about that. I just need to figure out how to do a custom paint job on such small tins!

Here's an update as of tonight. I painted the engine cases and lower legs with flat aluminum, the oil filter and pump are black, for a little contrast. The frame and oil tank are clear coated and polished, and the oil tank cap is tamiya gold leaf. I'm still trying to decide on how I will finish the tins, they are still solid gold with no clear yet. I think I will probably finish the whole thing first and see how it looks solid bafore I decide if I am going to try any graphics. If I go thay route I will most likely do old school scalops. And I still need to figure out how to make my own exhaust pipes. Any ideas, help?

Here's the latest, the mostly finished bike. I decided to stay with the solid gold tins, no graphics. I originally took one of the primary covers and sanded down the design an cut a hole in the middle of it and painted it dark cherry pearl but it got lost and you couldn't see it. Good thing there were 2 in the kit. I just painted up the second one and it looks OK. I left the front fender loose so I can take it off. I am posting pics both ways. I like it either way. The pipes are just laying on bacause I am not going to use them. I still plan to make my own. I hope you all like the finished build, it's simple but sometimes cleaner is better.

This was a cool model to build and I will get more. I really just wanted to see how it went together so I really didn't get to much into detail. Next time I plan on doing a little more with the paint, cables, and wiring.
