Hey guys i am having some hard times with the system and my ford explorer 02 ED. I got it done at bestbuy and they said they went though 3 units to get this all working. So i don't know what they are doing wrong. So they get it all to work its be about a month or a little more and my remote start does not work. I have now clue what happen everything else works but the remote start just does not work its does not even try to start the truck? Can someone please help me out i feel that i might be better on troubleshooting then the retards at bestbuy. Please guys help me get my remote start working again?

My guess is they are using the old crappy method to bypass the Ford key system. Do this, sit inside your truck and remote start it. Look at the security light on the dash. Does is light up then go out like normal or does it come on then start to flash?

Even if it does not really remote start like its just sending the command but not doing that command. I still try it and report back but the way that i think they are doing it is by the ford bypass thing that bestbuy sells or i think it said Directed on it.

even if the bypass was faulty it should at least try to start the vehicle (turn over but not start). Is it programmed to lock/unlock your car? If so, is it locking and unlocking? If it unlocks and locks, it might be kicking into valet mode. If it's not even locking and unlocking the doors, you have 1) a bad antena connection 2) bad remote 3) your starter unit is loosing power and loosing it's programming. Some units don't like car boostings.

Everything else works its unlocks, locks, does the rear window hatch just no remote start so how do i get out of the Valet mode?

It varies from remote to remote. Some are activated via switch which is usually mounted under the dash and some are activated via a special sequence of ignition being turn on-off or even a sequence that your remote buttons are pressed. You'd have to check your owners manual. If you don't have it look up your model number on the internet and they might have it.

Yea i looked it up i give it a try tomorrow in the owners book i could open a door push lock unlock and then lock again and check the light which seams like it might have happen because my wife took the truck and when she was at a friends house she said the alarm went off. So my guess is one of the doors was not shut all the way when she locked it then unlocked it push the door all the way shut then locked again mind you i don't know how fast she did it but it seams more like that alright i give it a try hope it works.

NOPE YOU ARE WRONG. Ford cars will not crank if the car doesn't see the correct key code. The theft light will blink rapidly and that's it.

Valet mode will only deactivate the alarm itself. The remote start won't be shut off. It'll still lock and unlock and remote start, just not activate the alarm. Trust me. I'm a DEI dealer for many, many years and do ALOT of dealership work with Fords.

Well, you never completely said what it's doing other than it won't start. When you press your RS button, do you have to do it once or twice? If 2x, I've seen a lot of customers have problems with the timing of it.
OK, say that you've got the timing part down OK, what model of RS is it? Is it one way or 2way? When you press the RS, does the vehicle's lights flash or nothing?

Ok full information is viper responder 791xv, 2way, noting happens no lights flash noting on the remote. The truck is a ford explorer 02 V8 4.6L. As far as i can see on the remote it is sending the command but the truck is not responding to the command because i look at the icons at the top as see its sending the command but just not doing anything. Also i do have to push it 2x but i do have that down, many people in fact all my family and friends have tried to start the truck. I just want to say i am great full for all your help in fact everyones help. Thank-you Thank-you

They will with the Autostart. I had one in my Taurus and when the key transponder went for a crap, the car would turn over, start and then shut off and the alarm light would flash.

OK, if it is sending out a signal but isn't showing anything else (not even an error or out of range) then there's something going on with the remote starter other than what you'd be able to fix. If the keyless part works fine along with everything else the most common problems are a faulty hoodpin switch or bad or turned off safety switch. The switch is usually under the dash somewhere.

Well, yes. I forgot the old PATS system that Ford first came out with would allow the car to crank but not start. This however, isn't the case with most Fords 2002 and newer. They won't crank at all and the security light will flash rapidly.

Do the DEI units have any sort of diagnostic LED or flash the security LED to indicate why the remote start attempt failed?

Yes and no. They won't report why they WON'T start however they'll report why they did shut down after the last successful start.
Check out what I stated before and report back.
