in my malibu there are two lights for the passenger n drivers floor mats, they light up when the door is open, i painted the bulbs blue and it looks really neat, does anyone have any clue how i could make them stay on all the time so that they don't shut off when i shut the door n take off, im figuring theres a switch somewhere for the door, but if i was to unhook that, my door chime would stay on and that would be very annoying, anyone have any clue? could i possibly run the two wires from the bulbs n hook it directly to the battery with a switch? or is that too much power

You really cant do that !
Unless you (re)wire up some lights just for that.
Go LED

couldn't i just cut those wires n run new wires directly to the battery? and put a toggle switch on them?
if i was to rewire up some lights just for that how would i go about doing that? could i just buy LED from somewhere n run them directly off the battery with a toggle switch?

You could do either one.
You wouldnt have to run it all the way to the battery.
They sell a fuse tap that can go onto a fuse,
and then you hook your power to that.
Then run that to the lights, hook up a ground,
then put the switch in the ground side of the wires.
Just make sure if you cut the wires to the fatcory light,
You'll need to cover those live ends of wire.

You might want to go bigger then speaker wire.
16-18 gauge should be fine though if its that big.
