vtec not operating

hi can any one help i have a 92 honda prelude 2.2 twin cam vtec import which was an automatic. It has been converted to manual transmision before i had the car the problem is the vtec does not operate in first gear every other gear is fine it kicks in strong at 5000 rpm all the way to 8000 rpm apert from first which revs out at 6500 rpm any help would be great thanks:confused:

Most likley because your wheels are slipping a bit in 1st so the change-over happens very fast and is hard to notice. Sounds like everything is fine.

thanks for the reply that would be the case but its not reving like a vtec should do in first gear only to 6 1/2 thousand revs to be honest its doing my head in:banghead:
