Hey guys i have a 1999 Grand Am that obviously has some electrical problems because just this morning on my way to work i lost all my gauges and radio but the car still ran. Stopped at a gas station and would not start again. Took the battery out repalced with new one and started fine but the Battery light came back on. The light started last night along with a flurry of other idiot lights flashing. Any ideas or suggestions????

Check for a lose ground. Check the fuses. I think there was another post about somthing similar, should be on the front page.

Welcome to AF mclyde4201.

Sounds like you alternator has killed your old battery,
and on its way to kill your new one.

A Power loss will cause all sorts of wierd anomalies.
Most parts store car also check your alternator.

I really wish it was as simple as my altenator but the previous owner...my dad lol...has the same problem and replace the altenator and it has done the same thing...maybe your right maybe i just need a new one...we shall see.

The battery should also be around 13+ volts will engine off, around 14+volts with it running.

Pull the alternator and get it tested.

Also a drive belt thats defective or looose will not allow the charging system to work properly.
