any thoughts on the best way to paint window trim that's molded into the body? the kit in question is a 1/24 Italeri/Testors Ferrari 288 GTO. window trim around the windscreen and the window frames on the door are to be black. i tried a black Sharpie but the results weren't terribly satisfactory. i don't have the steadiest hand with a brush, so if anyone's got suggestions, I'm all ears...

Hey buddy! Checked out the FAQs lately? ;)

BMF or Tamya masking tape over the whole thing then trim with a sharp exacto knife. Then you can spray though your air brush.

If you need more - just email me.

Yep, that's the way. If there is no indentation to follow then it's cutting and laying the tape to make the window trim the shape you require!

I always use Tamiya tape but lay it on a cutting mat and use a steel ruler and a fresh scalpel blade to cut it into very thin strips. You'll find it will follow the curves of the frame a lot better when it is thinner as the tape won't wrinkle as much.Burnish it down with a wooden cocktail stick and spray with the airbrush in very light coats so that the paint does not creep under the tape. When dry remove the tape and if there are any areas where the paint has crept slightly under the tape I use a sharpened wooden cocktail stick to just gently remove any excess paint and sometimes if the window has rounded corners to just 'shape' the corners slightly if neccessary.

Just wondering if any of you use Gundam markers to do window trim. Is it working fine?
