Whats a Newb to do?

Hello I have just purchased my first car...... I decided to get a 1995 MAX and because i got the max instead of the Bimmer i have an extra $1000 I want to add some performance upgrades to it and i'm not sure what i can do to get most bang for my buck...PLease Help...The car already has K&N Filter and intake...Thanks for your help
