The original Ford Mustang was introduced as a 1964 1/2. Ford liked to do this in the '60's, since a model that was introduced mid-model-year would get undivided attention, while those that came out at the beginning of the model year often got lost among the other new models. The original Mustang was essentially unchanged for the 1965 and 1966 model years. Changes included increased the V8 from 260 ci to 289, and changing the front lip of the hood. The '67&'68 models have different taillights, and are designed to accept the big-block V8 engines. The '69 models look completely different.

Yah, stexch those are some great cars there - the XKE is certainly up there for me too. It is rather hard to pick a favorite, a classic car buff friend of mine once said people tend to like cars from the decade they grew up in. Although I am kinda partial to classics from the 60's which is a bit before my time.

The Aurburns,Cords and Duesenbergs are the best ones.I have seen seen them in the Auburn,Cord Duesenberg Museum which was the assembly plant in Auburn,Indiana the day before the Kruse Antique Auto Auction last month and it is worth the money to see.You do see the engines, some are the length of a desk.

1969 Dodge Charger Daytona/1970 Plymouth Superbird
Take the 1970 Daytona 500 race. Superbirds and Daytonas Take the whole top 5 and Petty with his Superbird laps every car on the track
P.S Superbird goes 20 mph less than the Daytona but stops the engine problem where the engine started to overheat at speeds LESS than 65 mph.
These cars kicked everyones butt.

1971 Hemi 'Cuda's I think are in a close second

For me.... It has to be the edsel (1958-1960), the worlds BIGGEST failure!:grinyes:

I've always like the Edsel. I don't understand why it got such a bad rap. To my eyes, it's the nicest looking car Ford ever came up with...

As far as my list goes:

1. 1958 Desoto. My absolute favorite. It's the middle ground between the sweeping fins of the '57 and the more agressive look of the '59.

2. 1957 Imperial. Probably the most unique fins out of all the "forward look" cars. Gotta love the gunsight taillamps as well.

3. The 1949-1951 "Bathtub Nash". That's right.

Hi

I agree with the 69 Chevelle...had one in 1971...and have never had anything quite like it since..396..375 horse..4 speed...STOCK

Powershifting into second gear it would feel like the front wheels were coming off the ground...it would definately pin you back in the seat.

IMO hide away headlights were the BEST styling gimmick to come out of the '60's. The best ones are those with the full width grill look, like the GTO's, Chargers, later T-Birds, Torino GT's, and Cougars.

IMO ALL cars look better with their headlights hidden.

I think that

Best Race (Circuit) car 1969 Dodge Daytona (Aka 1970 Plymouth Superbird)
Reason - Shattered the 200 mph barrier on an oval track.

Best Drag Car
The Darts and Barracudas
Reason - When the NHRA has to make you your own race class (SS/AH) because you blow away the competetion your onto something

Best Looking Car
1964-1967 Mustang or the 1968-1970 B-bodies (Roadrunners, Charger, Coronet, etc)

well for me i have a couple. my all time favorite is a 1970 chevelle ss454. i compensated for that by buying a 1971 chevelle ss454 and have started restoring it.

after that it would be a 1969 dodge charger, then 1970 dodge charger, then a 1972 chevy c10
