Need Info On Engine Swap

I have a 00 Sierra w/ a 4.3L 5 speed and want to change to the 5.3L. Most engines I've found have been in automatics so I was wondering if there was any catch to making this swap or would purchasing a crate engine be the easier way to go? Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
