97 LeSabre coolant disappearance

Gentlemen,
We've had this '97 for some time; it seems the coolant goes low on a regular basis. While there are no visible leaks, I suspect a bad intake manifold. Does this gradual loss of coolant point to the bad EGR valve/intake manifold situation? As far as I know, there has been no different exhaust appearance, and there is nothing apparently wrong with the engine oil. Maybe it is a small, consistent leak in the suspect area?

Do a complete cooling system check, pressure test the system and make sure it holds pressure and look for any external leaks, barring finding anything the manifold is certainly suspect on that engine along with the lesser chance of the lower intake gaskets.

Just an update on the coolant disappearance. I removed the upper intake manifold and found LOTS of antifreeze goo in the cavities of the lower intake manifold. I had to mop out the excess. Examination of the old plastic UIM showed that it was very thin in the area surrounding the stovepipe.
I got a replacement from NAPA, possibly made by Dorman (no info on the box the verify that however ). The replacement contained a new PCV setup, "O" rings as required AND for the injectors, and a replacement "stovepipe" made of aluminum; the new stovepipe had an OD of about .55" so it had plenty of clearance from the plastic UIM. The main gasket and the throttle body gaskets were also included.
I did have one problem where the new UIM was located under the aternator; the old unit was about 1/8" high, the replacement unit had an added flange which was abour 3/8+ high. I trimmed off the thin flange so it fit OK.
Generally an acceptable end product.

How long did it take you do to the repair? I need to do mine also.

It took me about 5 hours; I'm a bit slow and having never done this before, prob'ly could redo it is less than 4 hours.

Did you consider replacing the LIM gasket with the newer GM versions with aluminum reinforcements? That really should be done for prevention of problems later on.
