Hello Everyone.
I have a 2000 Rodeo, Auto, 3.2 with 72K. When the engine is cold it starts right up and runs fine. But when I drive for 30 min or so and turn the engine off for just a few minutes and start it back up it fires right up and then the RPM's drop to 200 before settleing at 600. Sometimes it will stall all together. If I shut the ignition off and turn it back on it will take a few seconds longer to start but it will idle better,,, say around 700 rpm's. The EGR valve was cleaned and fuel filter changed with no effect. I'm thinking maybe the FPR but was hopeing to get some other opinions.

Sounds like the intake manifold gasket, i am having the same problem now and will be replacing it soon. Apparently this is really common in 98+ passports/rodeos.

That's what I was afraid of. I had seen somewhere the cost would be around $350 if done at the dealer. Does that sound about right ?

correct. the gaskets cost about 40 bucks for the set.
if you are the original owner it is a free fix.

if you are the original owner the 10yr 120k warranty covers the gaskets.
if you are the second owner it is covered by a 5yr 60k warranty (but you already have 72k).

Well I had the intake gaskets done on friday,, runs much better now. No more CEL. Idle is nice and steady. The dealer said the computer will take a few days to relearn. Does that sound about right ?? Total cost of the replacement was $370 at Miskinis Isuzu / GMC in Bridgewater Ma.

anytime you unplug the battery for more then 15 minutes the ECU needs to learn your driving style. It take like the first 30 starts and monitors your driving to give you the best MPG for your driving style.
It is also recommended to due the reset when you change the air filter or even the plugs.
