haha then i wouldnt do it.........its a delicate, time extensive process. its not as easy as just throwing down another layer of paint on top of your other one. u have to sand everything off, down to bare metal, then start all over. 2-3 coats of primer, anywhere from 3-7 layers of paint, and a couple layers of clear, just for a base paint job. u would have to take all the panels off and everything. its WAY too much work for anyone who doesnt know exactly what they are doing. i wouldnt do it, but thats just me, way to risky....

If you've never had any experience w/ painting a car, dont do it. Plus you need special equiptment to do it.

dont forget sanding down all the scraches and bondoing the little dents here and there that you cant knock out.

well if u do want to paint ur car go ahead but it takes patience...tons of it.Your gunna want a sander(obviosly)and these types of sand paper-60, 100, 150, 220, 320, 400, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000.Start with the lower grits and bring the paint all the way to bare metal.Use primer and hold the can about 6-8 inches a way from the car useing light coats to avoid driping!!!After thats done sand it with the 400-1000 till smooth but not too much to show metal. then use the desired color in the same fashion as the primer.Sand that with the 1500-2000. Then clear coat and wala ur done.Make sure to wash the car after every sanding, and to tape up the windows(trust me i know ppl who dont and fuck up there windows)
And for bondo(If you dont know how to use it)Get a kit that come with hardener(or buy hardener)And get some spreaders. To mix the bondo i usually put bondo on cardboard and lay a strip of hardener acroos the top. Then just sand the dented area to the metal about 5 inches around the dent.Slap on the bondo, smoothe it out.Let dry for 15-20.Use a gratter(or 60-80 grit paper) then sand smooth.Repeat until smooth an flush with car.
Hoped that helped...good luck

I used to live next to (not trying to be racest here, just saying) a Mexican, and he painted his car every few months, his trick? Spray paint.. And no, Im not kidding.... It looked like total shit after awhile, I kinda found it funny cuz you could allways see like 4 other colors besides the one he just put on.. ahh good time good times, sitin out in the front lawn, just watching this guy painting, thinking he was cool.. hehe :screwy:

This is a sort of an off topic question. I have a 1994 Cavalier RS and I have small amount of Oxidation on my roof and alittle on the hood. I can't afford to get the car painted as I've been quoted $1200 for a complete job. I'm adraid that i'll completely mess it up if I try to do it myself although I know I can buy the spraypaint at Walmart and Autozone with the clearcoat stuff in it. I thought of buying a buffer. Is there a way that I might be able to buff it and make it look alittle more descent? I even bought some expensive car wax. I'd appreciate a response from anyone and everyone.
