Its a system of pipe that replaces the stock air inlet system known as the air intake that gets air from the outside of the car into the engine. The two types of after market air intakes are warm air intake which positions the filters inside the engine bay and a cold air intake which positions the filter outside of the engine bay and almost always in the fender whel.

The main uses of an after market air intake is better/quicker air inlet flow and in most cases they suck in a colder air then what stock intake systems do as they are not made out of crap materials and are not positioned close to heat producing engine components. AF intakes also add a slight performance edge to your vehicle in the way of hourse power and tourque as well as a little bit of a better exhaust profile tone but not much. Also it will up your gas millage a touch so long as you dont led foot it thinking your car is super fast after putting in the intake.

So putting one in would do good for my car... thats cool... How much do they normally cost? and for labor?

you can get a cold air/ram air/whatever anywhere from $30-200. The only real difference from the $30 to the $200 is that the filter is going to be of better quality and the unit is going to fit perfectly. If you have any sort of coordination and a few basic tools you should be able to put on one of these intakes, if not, i dont think you should ever work on a car again. This is easier than changing your oil....

ebay FTW....it wont b perfect, it wont have excellent placement, and it wont look AMAZING! but for 35 dollars (it doesnt sound like you are about 2 drop 3k for a turbo kit and upgraded engine internals) its gonna give you the better air flow and a little better gas MPG your lookin for...

Bad joojoo will happen to your motor. Wrong air/fuel ratio will cause fouling, shi**y running and basically cause problems you can avoid.

God i love that word...or that combo of words...lol...bad joojoo.Sorry of subject

Ah, ya gotta love the joojoo but seriously...there is nothing right about a 4 banger that gets 100 miles to a full tank.

the car will be fine if its not pluged back in or you make a little mistake...the sensor isnt gonna read air in the engine bay as much colder or alot more, and dump so much fuel it ruins anything at all....like i said before, i had a shit intake and i didnt plug my sensor in...it hung somewhere in my engine bay (lol)

just remember that the intake should hook up 2 the throttle body and have a filter on the other end....clamp it all down and ul be fine

I agree. If you forget to hook something up it isn't going to be the end of the world, but try not to forget anything. The worst that will happen is you wont get very good gas mileage. It isn't like your engine is going to blow up because the IAT wasn't hooked up....

CavLCD128

nah man...i totally new a guy who totally left his IAT sensor unpluged, and his engine totally blew up...totally...like for real and junk  :icon16:

lol....my GSR doesn't even have an IAT sensor, but it hasn't blown up yet :p

your check engine light will come on, your car will run the same, its no big deal, you just have to plug the sensor back in and the check engine light goes away within a day
