UFO Sighting

...and it wasn't by drunken rednecks. Reports of a UFO flying above O'Hare International Airport this afternoon. Pilots, flight crew, taxi drivers, aviation company executives, etc all made similar reports about the object. The FAA and United Airlines say there is no reason to believe it was more than a weather phenomenon.

So in general... do you believe?

Not the first time the FAA has dismissed phenomenon cases.

I do believe that there is definitely life outside of our solar system. I do believe that there is intelligent life as well. With theories of cosmic inflation its hard to believe that of the millions of planets we are the only one that can sustain life. Cosmic inflation suggests the multiverse theory, that with cosmic inflation there are difference in vaccums which create multiple universes.

These multiverses raise the odds for life outside of earth. There are solarsystems, galaxies, and universes. Galaxies alone have the potential to sustain life. Zeta Reticuli is a galaxy and system that is closest to our own. It is also believed to have the potential to sustain life, and if it did they would be much more advanced than anything we can imagine as that galaxy formed billions of years before ours.

The question, is earth worth visiting arose earlier? I would definitely say Earth is worth visiting. If we had the ability to travel to distant planets wouldnt you want to peek in on other lifeforms and see there ways of living? Thats what other lifeforms are doing. Not only are they peeking into to watch how we live, but they want to make sure we dont become a threat to them. During the cold war with the development of nuclear test sites UFO sitings became more common. The belief behind that is that ehy want to make sure we are of no threat with our weapons to them.

But in all seriousness, I'm not sold on the idea of extraterrestrials visiting our planet. Not saying that they haven't but until i see hard evidence, I will continue believing that most UFO's are experimental, and highly secret military aircraft.

Correct, most UFO's are highly guarded secrets of the government. Now Im not a conspiracy theorist and think the government is hiding a conspiracy; its just part of our defense and military. Area 51 is a huge source for "UFO's", people assume because they cant identify it to standard aircraft it must be from space. Wrong, the F117 Nighthawk, U2, and SR71 were all developed at Nellis and people saw them flying and reported them as UFO's. Current black projects - such as the infamous Aurora - are mistaken for UFO's.

Not all UFO's are extra-terrestrial, many are just mistakes. The government conducted project Bluebook starting in '52 and ending in '69 which kept track of all reported UFO sightings and investigated them. Of the 12,000+, 700 of them remain unexplained by any natural, of manmade occurence. So yes we have to look at both sides of the table, terrestrial or extra-terrestrial.

I believe that there is at least some sort of life out there aside from us. The question of if aliens would visit earth I would definately say yes. If they are somewhat similar to us then I am sure they would like to watch our development. Wouldnt you think it is cool to be able to watch the development of the roman empire or any other group of people in our history? Also have you ever flipped the channel to the discovery channel or animal planet? People like watching things like meerkat manor, think about watching meerkat manor.....in space....we could be the meerkats in space.

^^ I missed that x-files episode lol

I just dont think higher intelligence that can master space time travel will waste its time spying on us..Honeslty if you were to compare our advancement in technology and intelligence with a species capable of mastering space travel, they would just keep driving. I'd put us at the bottom of the food chain along the lines of caveman with respect to knowledge and technology. Also I believe "aliens" arent all there cracked up to be..I personally think they are us the same thing as us just from a different time/dimension. But thats a whole other can of worms.

I'd put us at the bottom of the food chain along the lines of caveman with respect to knowledge and technology.

You're basing these assumptions on what you know of our species, life, and lifestyles on Earth. Think from their point-of-view, they have no understanding of how we live or what lies on our planet. For instance, lets say we have mastered space travel to travel to exoplanets - exoplanets are planets beyond our solar system about 200 of them have been discovered. If you had the slightest perception that there was sustained life on one of these planets, would you not want to visit and see what there progressions of life are? Would you not want to see how they live, what they look like, or even see what their munitions armory is like?

You place Earth along the level of Cavemen, or other undeveloped species. You created that assumption basing your idea that we aren't as developed as other lifeforms - or even not developed enough to be what you call "interesting". That assumption was then based upon what you observe around you. So the idea that Earth isn't worth visiting has to be thrown out, since the assumptions or arguments are based upon observation. Therefore Earth has to have been visited for these other lifeforms to say Earth is not worth visiting.

You can even look at the perspective in our own point-of-view; we're searching for other lifeforms and planets sustaining life. We're not going to pass one up because it may not be worth visiting, because we do not know its not worth visiting without collecting lots of information. That information would collected with satellites and manned missions alike.

The craft that we spot and call UFO's may not be manned, they may be spy-ships. Either way the argument that this planet, or any other life inhibiting planet isn't worth visiting cannot be sustained. Its found upon your illusion of what you see around you as uneventful, boring, or not interesting.

Excellent movie

GT I understand what your saying. Once again these are just opinions who knows right. But my opinions on UFO visitng us "now"...I just dont see why the time would be wasted. Billions and billions ( I sound like Carl Sagan) of years old this universe is, combined with its vastness I wouldnt waste a min on our civilization. I do consider us along the line of cavemen with respect to time as a whole. I dont consider the last I'd say 100 years anything to brag about.

Do I thnk they visited during Egyption times 100% yes.

I got like 50 pages left in the current book I am reading Fabirc of the Cosmos and wow does that book put things into perspective.

Has anyone noticed the drop in number of sightings, which is proportional in the increasing number of security surveillance cameras and cell phone cameras that are so widely used now?

I say it is deffo swapm gas!

The universe is far to large to NOT have another life form out there.

I subscribe to the theory that's based on a "Star Trek" kind of mentality: the aliens will contact us when WE are ready. A planet that still wars amongst itself is not ready for interstellar contact.

Sorry for ruining all the fun and sorry for spreading my agnostic propaganda;

It doesn't freaking matter as long as they don't invade us. Just another thing to feed the weak humans need of simple answers to unnecessary questions, like death and evolution. Let's all go back to our important questions in life such as what pizza you'd like to order or what movie to rent with your girlfriend.
