Hello, Im new to the board and i bought this vehicle not running with the intentions to fix it and sell it. My problem is that the engine runs like its out of time but its not. All the timing marks are in the right place the distributor is right, Its getting fuel but still wont run right. You can floor the vehicle in park or neutral and it will rev to 3000rpm and then sound like its hitting a rev limiter. My haynes manual does not show an engine diagram with a crank position sensor which mine has. I also tryed replacing that with no luck. The guy i bought it from said he replaced the crank gear, on the back of the crank gear there is plate with 6 teeth on it that as the crank rotates its hits the magnet on the crank sensor. The only thing i can think of at this point is the gear is wrong. Shouldnt it only have 4 teeth? And when the engine is on TDC with the timing marks lined up one of those teeth should be pointing toward the crank sensor, right? Because mine doesnt. I cant figure this thing out at all i have tried everything i can think of. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you. Also its a 1.6 sohc 16 valve engine. Thanks again.

Check the throttle sensor Mine did the exact same thing it would feel like I hit a brick wall at 3/4 throttle. I had a dead spot there.
