Timing Chain Replace '96 2.2L Corsica

Hi JS! Are there any tips I need to know when I change this part? I have the Haynes for it and the sprockets, tensioner, crank seal, oil pan, and chain cover gaskets. Any help?

Sorry Mike, never had the need to do one. Understand the 2.2 can be a pain though to work on depending on what needs done. Should be some help here somewhere though. What I would worry about is whether the 2.2 is a non interference engine or not. Assuming the chain has broken, some engines simply stop running, and some self destruct, as valves hit the piston tops and you basically have a shot motor. Been there before. Dodge engines are bad about this but not sure about a 2.2 Chev. Sorry not any help on this, might post in the Beretta section as well, same engine as basically same car.

Thanks JS, good point. I have had that brought to my attention by my coworkers. The good thing is that I did not hear any noise when the engine died, so I am praying there is no damage to the valves or cylinders. It is a pain to change the chain. I finally got the cover of the timming chain off (6 hours labor) and sure enough, the chain is broken as well as the tensioner.

I'm trying to help out a friend with this car. I suspect the the same thing, but i was under the impression it was a belt. I tried to locate it, but im not familiar with these engines, and i'm not sure where it is..It must run internally? Im used to belts and its easily accesable under plastic cover..Im a little confused.
