battery/alternator/other?

Hi all - 2000 GT approx 86k miles.

My family came home frm a 2+ hour drive up from the in-laws, I park the car car in the driveway and shut it off. I came back about 5 minutes later to move it into the garage and nothing. I get some flickering lights, my stereo gives me the LOC, but she doesn't turn over. I called AAA for a jump and possible tow and she fires up right away again. I let it run for about 10 minutes and when I go to back it into the garage it dies in the street. I try to jump it again but this time she's pretty dead. I'm still getting some flickering lights but that's about it.

I've never changed a battery in the 3+ years that I've had it so I'm thinking about doing that right off the bat but it seems that I'm still getting some decent battery.

Any suggestions?

Check battery connections. They might look fine but they could be loose and dirty. This is what I would check first...good luck

This morning I went out to clean the battery connections and the post on the positive side fell out....I got a feeling that may be the problem! I'll toss in another battery today and we'll see if that does it.

corroded battery posts is so common on GM vehicles, that did the same on the 99 MOntana and my 00 grand pric gt. new battery will fix the problem.

Yep...plus the AC/Delco batteries that come in the GP's from the factory are a piece of crap.

Its a lot easier if you take out the stabilizer bar above the battery...thats about the only way you can get it out....and its still a pain in the ass after that.
