We just had a snow storm and after heating up the car in the morning, it has started overheating. Never had a problem before. Isn't low on coolant, radiator not steaming. Thermostat not opening? Shouldn't they open and stay open when faulty? 63,000 miles....been on Mobil 1 since 20,000. Where is the thermostat? Any help would be appreciated.

make sure your cooling fans are turning on for one thing these fans are famous for failing, the fan blades break of the motor shorts. check you fan fuses, also you can try and spin the fans manually, with the engine off, key off

Pulled the thermostat yesterday afternoon and dropped it in a pot of boiling water.....didn't move a millimeter. Changed it out and presto...no overheat.
I thought they were supposed to have a failsafe and open when bad? Not in this case. And what knucklehead decided to put the thermostat way down there so flippin hard to get to? I could have changed 30 v8 therms in the time it took me to get this one out and back in!
Thanks for the reply
