Actualy you need LSD to drift well. You can do it without but the problem is with an open diff, the tire that isn't receiving any power will drag the spinning tire down, dramaticaly slowing you throughout the drift. Like I said, you can do it but you need much more speed and plenty of momentum.

Technicaly the 350 should be great for drifting although I hear she plows a little. Once you get the adjustable suspension done (with camber control) you migt be interested in a larger rear sway bar to help make the car a little tail happy and you should be drifting to your hearts content, or wallets content, because with 300hp you can bet you'll be eating through tires pretty fast, and tires for the Z aint cheap.

I think the reason you never really see many 300ZX's drifting is that Nissan poured plenty of money and engineering into suspension and handling to target the sports car market. As such aftermarket companies tend to develop better handling solutions for the car and those that drive them. If you notice the age group for 350Z buyers is 25-30, most have been driving for several years and are just sinking their first investment in a true sports car. If you have ever watched the drifting videos from Japan you'll notice most are kids 17-20 maybe. Plus drifting isn't really any better from car to car. What I mean is that drifting in an R32 Skyline is as fun and takes as much skill as drifting in a '83 Corrolla Twin Cam. Why would you spend all that money for the same experience you could receive if someone paid and begged you to take their old Corrolla.

and how it's tuned. The 'controlled slide' your looking for is hard to come by and highly tuned suspensions and 50/50 weight dist
help. The best slides I've seen? BMW's around a track, near perfect control and handling. Some Jap cars are decent also. Saw some Merc video's, they don't do as well and plow the front end and look almost uncontrollable. The Z though, it does not look as though it's going to
be a great drifter, but I could be wrong. My last 300 Z, forget about it,
not balanced at all. My M3, it's damn near made for perfect drifting and
I exercise that attribute on weekends around some great turns and corners. Perfect control as I screech all 4 patches. I would love to take it to the track, but if you can get your Z to do it let us know! Video!!
