I just picked up a mount for my ipod at target, it clips to my vents and holds my ipod pretty securely. I have a charger that plugs into my cigarette lighter and i don't like the wire. How could i re-route the wire so it is not shown on my 1999 Grand am? I have the mount on the middle vent above the stereo.
Thanks!
Thanks!

You could pull a vent out ,and route it through the opening,
and cut a hole in the vent tube to drop it behind the stereo.
Thier is a Dissaembly procedure (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=625171)I put together in the appearance/non performance N-Body (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1988)section that might be helpfull.
Hope that helps !

Where does the vent go, i was thinking of doing that and then splicing the wires to the inside of the cigarette lighter but where does the vent lead to?

The vent goes under the dash to the blower air box.
You dont want to really go that far.
Right at the opening of the vent, you can see where the tube comes up to the dash panel.
Right in between those would work really well,
you would just need an opening big enough to get the plug through.
Then you could run it right behind the lighter for direct power.

I have a pic of that area (http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c242/xeroinfinity/AUTOMOBILES/Venttube.jpg).
The red circle is where I suggested cutting the hole for the wire.

Here's another thought for you....
I mounted my Ipod to my ebrake, so while it was down it was easy to control without looking at it., then i would run the wire just under the console by the carpeting, towards the front then came up and under the back by the cigarette lighter... It was pretty easy and worked quite well. this is just another thought.

Believe it or not I used fabric elastic bands to mount it to the ebrake... I don't know where teh bands came from I had just found them one day and tried it and it worked. thinking about it though it could have been one of my nieces hair bands... LOL you do what you gotta do! :grinyes: It made it easier to keep the ipod in the case as well as it was easy to remove from the car as needed. Plus the bands stayed on the ebrake in the car at all times and blended in pretty well that you couldn't tell that they were there!

HA! I've never actually taken the plastic off of my car's dash. For that matter I've never taken it off of any car. is there anything that i could mess up? And another thing, if i was to splice into the back of my cigarette lighter so i wouldnt have a big white thing sticking out of it coud i possible mount an on/off switch somewhere so my ipod isnt always charging?
