speedometer issues

Yesterday I was on my way back from the desert when my speedometer stopped registering. it would stay at 50 and then just started going down slowly even though I was maintaining speed. My oil pressure gauge also just quit working and dropped to the bottom on the right side, my CD player is also getting very warm and reseting itself. It was not hot out in the desert, maybe 70 during the day, and I am trying to figure out why my speedometer is having issues. the rpm, gas, temp, and voltage are all working still as far as I can tell but the speedometer is not working and this is the third time this has happened. the first time it happened was a year ago it just kept going up, if I slowed the speed showed the same and then when I sped up it would continue to rise from what I was going. I stopped and shut the truck off and it worked fine after that till about a month ago when it went all crazy like it is now on my wife. She took it to auto zone because she was no where near anything but auto zone, they told her it was the battery not being connected all the way. I think that was a BS answer, mainly because I put the battery in and know that it was hooked up right. Now it did it yesterday and I checked the battery and it was still connected fine so I don't know what to look at next, it is a 2003 2500HD with about 40,000 miles on it. Since I am out of warranty I don't want to take it in unless I have to, thanks for any help you can give.

This is my guess. My speedo has not been working regularly for some time. The oil pressure guage just started acting up so I'm sending mine in.

I just had to have my speedometer cluster replaced. I have an extended warranty so not a big deal for me. The cluster was about 250 on the invoice. When I posted about my sppedo problem, several people told me about problems they had with their clusters. I am not sure about the CD player but my sppedo would do the same thing. After driving awhile it would be about 10 off then when I slowed down it would go negative. I would let it sit overnight and poof was working again. Hope this helps.

BTW I have a 2004 1500 with about 38k on it.
