:shakehead Which wire, sensor or fuse would cause my 95 Grand am's Dash lights to be on when the key is turned on, while the switch is in the off position, but its only the left side of the dash that is lit and when i turn the switch on the otherside comes on but the left side turns off. Its causing some serious problems under the hood. So the wire, sensor, or fuse must be a big deal. If anyone can help please tell me. Thanks:grinyes:

can't help you much, but don't worry about any fuse being the problem.

AS I said before you either has a serious short or the dashcluster is bad.

THis is very common with this particular model GA.
Have you removed the cluster to see if any bulbs were loose or bad ?

It could also be the body control function or body control module whichever its colled on this model..

Is thier any thing else not working properly, like you interior lighting ?

All other lights are fine inside the vehicle. What ever is causing this is also draining my battery very slowly, because it has been sitting for three days and is now dead.

Not Good !

You definatly have a short somewhere.

Might get the car scanned to seee if any B DTC's are present.
Electrical issues are a PITA and will require some testing.
If aything has been added resently,
like stereos or the wiring has been worked on I'd start there.

If you had the dashcluster out,
double check the pins in the wire connector that they didnt get bent or something.

A CD player was added a few days befor the transmission went out. I have put it on trailer and I am sending it now to a dealer to see if they can find the short. This short is also shorting out some of the speakers inside the car. So it might be behind the dash but how could it cause the car not to start?

So what was wrong with the trany?

If a wiring diagram wasnt used when you installed teh stereo,
it is very possible that one or more of the wires are not hooked up correctly and causing your dash to freak out.

And yes it could cause a not start because of the passlock system may be shorting out too from the CD player install.
:dunno:

Hopefully the stealership can pin point the trouble.

Good Luck !

Hopefully. I have already spent a fortune on this car and there probably going to make me spend the rest.lol. The tranny blew out and i had to put a new one in. When the stereo was installed by a guy who has installed many over his lifetime. I wouldn't think he would mess up but he may have.

The trouble is usually a wire that is negative untill you turn on your headlights.
Then it become Positive and this is when and where the troubles begin, like no dashlights, or other courtesy lights malfunction.

Thanks for the help. The Dealer found the problem and now the car is running. A ground wire had been cut and that was all. 60$ for a lousy cut wire.
