Ok so i got my baby running just over a weeks ago.. and i have been driving her around.. last night i went over to my friends house with a vette that has a new 550hp crate motor. I didn't bother to ask him about it.. cause.. well its a chev and i just dont.. care.. haha he just was going off about all this stuff that he has done.. and he started it up.. and it had a big old cam and every thing.. so we raced.. my heart was pounding!! i love the rush before the race.. 1....2..... seemed like forever 3!!! i launched at 3 1/2k and my brand new 6 puck just spun cause its not broken in yet so i let off for a half a second and it hooked up. i was a half a car a head all the way through first then shifted to second! (still getting use to the RHD) and he pulled up next to me we where dead even.. then i shifted to third.. and he just slowly pulled away..... now i just put my boost guage in and have not turned up my boost but then i went for it i hit a peck 12 pounds in first and 15 at about 4000rpms in second but at 5000rpms i was at 8pounds and third on up is only 8?? all my vaccum lines are conected so unless i have a small crack somewhere i must have a bad boost sensor? hmm i will mess with it today and i will probubly put a manual boost controller in it today also i will run him again when im at just 14 punds even through all the gears!!

Um, not to be a prick, but that about sounds like how a race would go with a vr4 and a stock ls1. Not a 550hp vette. Boost should hold 10psi to redline, if it's lower, you probably have boost leaks. Pressure test it. And stop racing on a new clutch. Break it in properly or you are just wasting your money and will be replacing it prematurely. Congrats on getting the car running though.

i have to agree, break the clutch in properly, and a vette, especially anything newer than 00, is going to beat a vr4.
also justa general ?, i work for ups, on one of my deliveries i saw rhd 3k, but labeled gto, is it possible to get a gto into america, because cant the gov. refuse and say buy a 3/s, because they are to simular?

You cannot legalize a GTO in the US. This has been covered.

eh, i'm partial to the viper, and porsche 911. the c5 lased till wen? i've heard that the new c6 is supposed to b great, but the shelby gt500 is a better bang for the buck, 500hp at 42k, c6 400hp at 42k, then the lowly boxster; 300hp at 42k

^What happened to your VR4 man??? Put that money into your VR4 and you'll be spanking plenty of vettes...

Ehh I just think a C5 is what I want ultimatly right now. I'll decide if I want to keep the VR4 another year after the clutch goes in, that will make it fun again I think as its been slipping for a while now.

for that price range i myself would try to find a GTO (goat not 3/s). Performance is good, handles good, and its bound to be very collectible since they stopped production.

or the Sky RedLine. kinda girly i know, but thats one fantastic handling car.

but you gotta take handling into account.

nice thing about porches tho is that the new ones never break. out of a study i read in a newspaper a couple months back, out of every 100 new cars porsche had the 2nd least problems of any maker next to toyota. they've been making the same car for like 40 years so they have it down to a very precise level of manufacturing. there are still a ton of porsches on the road though and if i buy an expensive car i want it to be noticed so that everyone around me knows how inferior they are to me :grinyes:

Your kidding right? Aparently the only thing you have read is the HP number. They are quite slow for 500HP and the weight makes them handle pretty poorly.
