1993 Ford Ranger 2.3l Evr Voltage

Engine Off; Battery Voltage @ 12.5 Volts. Engine Idle; Alternator Charging Normally @ A Steady 14.5 Volts. Engine Off; I Disconnect The Evr Connector And Hook Up A Digital Volt Meter. I Turn The Key On And I Get 12.5 Volts. I Then Turn The Engine On And I Get A Fluctuation Of 14.7-19.2 Volts At The Evr Connector. Is This Normal? If Not,,, What Is The Problem? Thank U In Advance For Any Suggestion And Have A Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Tend to agree with e-powers. Open circuit should be around 12V. Engine idling should be 13-14V. If in doubt check your battery to make sure your battery is not overheating. Better yet connect an ammeter and that will tell you if your alternator is overcharging.

The power feed to EGR valve should be the same as the battery voltage.
Anything over 15 volts is getting to high.
Check battery and alternator charging system.
