You might have better luck trying to find one out of a 4 door EX. From what I hear the gears are in between the DX hatch and the Si hatch. Probably easier to come across too. I have one sitting around, but don't know for sure if I'm gonna need it or not yet. Haven't decided if I'm putting the z6 in the hatch or the b18a1 in it.

So your saying for me to get one out of an EX model? What yr dose the tranny have to be? Cuz I have 2 from a 1989 Honda DX.

Yes. from what I heard the gears on the EX are shorter than the DX, but a little longer than the Si. Should be any of them between 88-91, but I don't know for sure. Try getting ahold of Greg on here, he is the one who told me about the difference so he might be able to shed some more light on it.

So I can just use the 1988 - 1991 EX 5 Speed tranny on the 95 D16Z6 Motor and it will be fine? What about the DX tranny? I have 2 laying around, how bad would that hurt the motor if I used it for awhile?

the DX one will work just fine. If its a D series motor, you can use any D series tranny....I think there might be a few exceptions, but i think like 90%+ of the time its fine. The DX trannies have longer gears in them than the Si and 5th gear is more of overdrive than anything IMO.

Ok so now I have my tranny, what about the half axels? I have an extra set of those also. Can I use them or do I need to get diff ones? I do no I need an upgraded P28 Ecu (I think thats it). I also need the wiring harness right?

You can use your dx axles. I don't know if your car is already MPFI, if not you will have to convert it to MPFI. Use your factory harness, just modify it for MPFI. There are plenty of how-tos for it. If your going for the P28 you have to get a OBD0->OBD1 conversion harness as well. You could actually just use an 4th gen Si ECU and distributor and just wire the vtec in on a switch, or there are a couple different ways to wire the VTEC. Just check out the FAQ thread, I think Kris has some engine swapping info in there.

Iv got 2 threads open for this, lol. So I dont need the P28 just an 88-91 SI ECU and distributor? Im getting a wiring harness from bambam89lx (more then likley) so that will convert my car from DPFI to MPFI. So then like I said all I need after I get the harness is an 88-91 SI ECU and distributor and Im done (besides wiring the VTec to a switch).

*EDIT*
After checking the FAQ again I came across this. (or you can find a PS9 ECU and get it chipped with a 1 wire vtec program *one of the best ways IMO*) Where would I find more info on that?
