Long overdue update

I've been kind of quiet lately and haven't updated my project much so I figured now would be a good time since I had the camera today to take pictures.
Before I get into it there's some background. In august I left my job of KFC GM for a job as a welder in a machine shop. The job was great, and the pay was even better. Unfortunately the weekend before thanksgiving I was given the news that I was being laid off, along with quite a few others. I have never been put in a situation like this before and it was difficult for me to deal with. I started to collect unemployment which was only enough to keep the bills paid. Therefore all funding for the RS came to a screeching halt.
After weeks of job hunting and about 30+ applications, I finally got hired at a place nearby, but I don't start until the 2nd of Jan. So, I've been spending all my time lately on cosmetic issues with the car, mainly painting/coating parts.
Before I was laid off I was able to buy a few new parts that will be going in once the rear-end is done.
First I painted the sway bar and track bar gloss red...

Then I did the rear-end in gloss black, I'm really pleased with the result (notice the LCA relocation brackets to keep the elf community happy)

The rear end isn't back in yet because I got gears for a 3-series carrier, which I thought I had, but I was wrong. Gotta get out to summit to exchange them for the proper set.
Next up was the brake drums, painted gloss black

After that, I decided to do the rear wheel wells, the fronts I will do later...

Today I finished up the heat shield that's between the gas tank and muffler

My gauge panel just because I wanted to...

My ugly line lock and fuel line/gauge install
http://home.comcast.net/%7Egenopsyde91/12-29-06011.jpg
A new intake manifold, Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap, because the Holley moved my TBI up 2 inches causing the throttle and tv cables to not reach.

I also installed a Walbro fuel pump so the TBI can efficiently feed this thing, but I didn't take a photo.
And finally, I was going to keep this a secret for as long as I could, but I couldn't find a good place to hide it...

Well, that about sums it up for now...

Damn, that really sucks that you got laid off before the hollidays. But at least you're keeping your chin up with a sweet project. And now you're going to be a bottle baby.
