In a car that has fog lights stock, how do they turn on? is it a part of the parking light/head light sitch or is it on a seperate switch all together?

On my dads 2000 Dakota its part of the headlight switch. Its kind of like that BMW one for the headlights, you just pull it out for the fog lights. I didn't know for sure on the 4th gens, haven't looked into them yet, but I would take Greg's word for it.

does the oem fogs go on without the markers or headlights? if not id rewire it for separate operation

yeah ive got a switch mounted for mine in one of the rectangles. they look great and are easy to work on. im hookin up the wires that come out of my ecu to it so i can turn it on to check my codes thru my cel then turn it off

lol well the ecu i have doesnt have a blinking light on it like my old pm6 so im just routing it to the cel. makes checkin codes easy cuz i can just do it with a switch rather than pullin up my carpet. my conversion harness has two extra wires that im just supposed to connect to check codes so i might as well clean it up.

so actually its un-ghetto.

hey that's a good idea. you should make a d.i.y. thread. i know i would like to see how you did it.

i have 2 extra wires on mine also. and i'm not sure what to do with them.

well if you leave them connected your cel just stays on..had it on for like the first 1k after the motor swap just to make sure everything was runnin good. im goin home to clean up the hatch today so i might work on that switch too. ill post up some pictures later
