i hear a bit of noise from the water pump
i have a volvo fan on my 3.8 v6 mustang. it turns on and works and ive been using it for years. lately its been overheating because the fan doesnt turn on sometimes.
does anyone think its the fan or should i change the water pump too?

is the fan really required to turn on every time a v6 3.8L mustang is not moving or just idling while stoped?
seriously i would think the water pump could keep this engine cooler. it seems as soon as this thing is not moving the temperature goes straight to hott and then the fan kicks on. and a couple times it didnt kick on due to bad wiring. i was going to change the fan to the stock mustang fan but i dont understand this instant fan need by the mustang v6.

Replace the waterpump and correct the fan wiring. Let us know if that doesnt work and we can take it a step farther.
