Just got my FXX 2 days ago from japan. Firstly id like to start by saying hobbysearch does very fast delievery. Order confirmation and payment on the 25th arrived on the 27th. Japan to Singapore. Which is really fast. Ok i have taken pictures of the Boxart and parts for all to view. Detail is just high quality . Equal or even better than the Enzo. Will be a very detailed OOB.

Will be building both FXX and Enzo at the same time. Both in italian red. FXX will be finished with PE parts and Enzo if possible as well.

Pictures of the FXX parts :

The more I see of this kit, the more I know I have to get one of my own. Any idea what color you are going to do yours?

And secondly, thank you for posting pictures of the decals! I appreciate getting to see them. But what are the things between the seatbelts... the red, yellow, and blue half circles?

My guess would be that it's something individual between the cars.. and you can se there is a spot in the center of every one.. perhaps they are placed on the windshield or something?

Something in the windshield area. See frame 20 in instructions. Color choice may have to do with Car color, don't yet know as I'm waiting on my model

I didnt really fit the parts as the enzo has almost 0 to non problems on fitting.

Yeap as stated italian red for both enzo and Fxx

Exotics builder answered that :)

Pretty nice model, im not too familur with the FXX, is that like a hopped up Enzo?

Ferrari track Enzo... its a Ferrari client test driver programme where they let a group of clients to race with with it and gather information on what the next Supercar should be like.
It runs on the same Enzo V12 but tuned up to produce 800 bhp @ 8500 rpm
Its new body is able to produce up to 40% higher downforce as well.

Mine (30 of them) are at customs till monday :(
I will be watching this one :D

Your sales must be really good...! all snapped up i supposed?

Great kit! Guess i won't have time for this kit till next year... wait a min..it's 2 more days till next year :grinyes:

theres always a next year :P

And Thanks auw.. and Ric i guess Exotics confirmed your thoughts there

Doing the body work first.

From the first 3 pictures u can see that there is alot of orange peel. This was due to the primer splattering out of the can. Anyway its fixed already...
The parts are sun bathing lol. Engine is sprayed silver leaf.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01213.jpg

I fixed the orange peel... sanded everything down and smoothen the paint. The front nose is done and drying after being washed in water. The rear still has abit more sanded to do before they all get 1 or 2 coats of paint on followed by decalling and all.

Cheers ! Thanks for reading and looking and sharing love for the Enzo and FXX :P

I so envy you right now!

It's interesting that there don't seem to be any decals for number plates (front and door), I thought that tamiya would inculde enough of them to build any of the versions, at least as they came out of the factory.

Its actually a box which i use to spray stuff on lol... That surface was created from about a year of spraying lol.

Small progress to keep everyone updated and refreshed.

First two pictures are 1st coat of clear . Lots of orange peel . I then did some sanding and proceeded to 2nd clear coat

So far so good... Kit has got good engine detail but need some aftermarket parts to make it perfect. On the engine , i changed the ferrari logos to those from the CM set and also added the ferrari "fuel" cap

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01230.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01231.jpg

Wheels come with the Red lining as decals ... fairly easy to apply like as per normal decals. Just need to take time to adjust it slowly to fit nicely.
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01235.jpg

The rear body is basically almost there ... Decals provided for car markings are very very top notch . Easily off the decal paper and easily onto the body with no worries. Tamiya uped the standard of decals for me here

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01234.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01236.jpg

So far here is where im... though some other body parts are still drying from paint. Im really taking my time here so as to not screw up anything while rushing.

Hope people will like my work :)

Looking great, did you not do a wash on the engine?

Are those decals on the rims a single round thin decal, or a long red one that you have to coax into place?

Did you airbrush that silver leaf for the engine? How did you get it to look so good, ive tried it as an experiment a few times but it just doesnt seem to be a fine enough paint for me.

U have to spray the wheel nuts red.. then apply the decals. I went a step ahead and added CM's metal transfers ontop to add a more realistic look to it

Its just sprayed black then mist coating silver leaf until the its all covered.

14/1/2007:

I did some weathering on the engine with tamiya's new weathering kit for Burnt Blue Blurnt Red and Oil stain... very ideal for exhaust weathering on cars.
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01263.jpg

The exhaust pipes are a smooth brush of burnt blue and burnt red to cover ... (burnt red is actually a orange tint) The main engine is weathered very lightly with Oil Stain
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01264.jpg

And i did some work on the seats today... basically cut out the holes for the PE and seatbelt to go to.

Managed to finish the engine + engine rack + half the engine bay.. Im waiting for the MFH heatshield to arrive .. Anyway i did some work on the seats , not the best of CF i did but its just so - so . I spray a light light coat of smoke to cover some errors. Anyway the sides are ok and the rest of the CF cant really be seen when built. Ill move on to work on the interior base tomorrow and try to get the roll cage + interior back done.

I oil stained the engine bay rack to make it more realistic. The back is painted silver leaf and the rest sprayed mica silver...

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01267.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01271.jpg

Added all the extra parts that enzo doesnt contain

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01268.jpg

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01270.jpg

Drive shaft????? (the black thingy connected to the engine) is black with the tips at the engine painted gold as stated in the menu

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01269.jpg

Weathered the brakes , Left one is "freshly" painted and the right is the finished product.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01272.jpg

Seats are CF in 3 parts , 2 side pieces and one center piece. Lightly smoke coated. THE WHOLE SEAT IS BLACK I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THERE ARE "WHITE" SPOTS ON THE SEAT :p

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01273.jpg

The black PE pieces are to detail the side of the seat as i have seen in reference pictures.

Is it me, or is that weathering kit a bit abrupt? Does it look overstated or is it the real color of the FXX's exhaust?!

Gamerxz
01-16-2007, 11:59 PM
Thanks auw and ferrari2k

delta : I think the kit is good... really useful . Easy to apply and easy to remove if over done. Simple take a piece of tissue to wipe off or use your finger to rub it off... :P

Slk : I dont intend to do the seat rails ... i dont any ideas on how to make them work. But u could always use sty sheet to build it...

Envy : Hmm i know a new FXX will have exhaust pipes all shiny and new... but im doing one that is slightly used? lol I felt that silver leaf pipes looked too plastic and i didnt want to use my alclad so i just decided to weather it for a more realistic look

Your CF skills aren't bad; it's a difficult skill to apply them especially the first time and I can see you got to grips with it already. Finishing is tidy and neat too and considering how quick you are with this project; it's made even better that you're not showing obvious signs of urgency and carelessness. Haha, working fast is probably your gift! Keep it coming Gamerxz, I'd really like to see a completed FXX when I'm probably still 30% done with mine.

Ok currently working on the rims for the enzo. After judging from pictures i realised the silver enzo in japan is using ferrari BBS style. All ferrari BBS rims are 7 double spokes , be it the option parts BBS or the racing BBS and even f1 i believe is 7 double spokes. So as i was looking through my rims i found out that it was true. I took out the rims from a F430 challenge and Enzo and started to compare. The match was close.

I cut out the spokes of the enzo and the BBS and start to fit it in..
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01280.jpg

This is how it turned out
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01281.jpg
A very close match

Shaping started.. i heated the spokes and used a tweezer to bend the spokes to fit the basic shape of the new Enzo rims
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01282.jpg

Got something close after awhile
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01283.jpg

Convinced this could actually be successful i started cutting on the rest of the set
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01284.jpg

I balanced the inside of the rims to fit on the tamiya enzo kit... abit messy now but ill clean up once im done bending
http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01285.jpg
Also a 1.5mm Hole was drilled in the center of the rim to fit a metal rod and nut system to complete.

http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r266/gamerxz3/DSC01286.jpg

This is where im... still need to do more shaping but im getting there.
