Flashers and Turn Signals not working

This problem is with a 98 Lincoln Towncar. The flashers started to blink faster and then later they quit functioning all together. The hazard lights no longer work either. I can hear what sounds like a electrical solenoid click when I first turn them on but nothing happens. The local shop says its the Lighting Control Module which they say costs $560 for the part alone. Also, the white directional turn light comes on (sorry for the poor description) if that helps.
Who could I buy the part from for cheaper?
How difficult is this to switch out? What else should I rule out before purchasing the part? I saw that in another posting that someone had mentioned these models had bad Multifuction Switches with corrosive grease. This car has always had quirky electrical problems with the radio, power windows, and also the A/C blower fan.
Thanks

I'm guessing LCM as well based on the symptoms. Folks like to get these from the U-pick type wrecking yards, that way they make their way out of there a bit cheaper.. :) The same guys put 'em on ebay too.
Yes, the multi-function switch has been a problem too, but that one is either on or off, or intermittent operation. The flashing speed changing prior to failure wouldn't be the MFS... maybe a coincidental dual failure :(

They called back to say it was the Multi-Function Switch. They were kind enough at the dealership to charge us $273. Oh well...
