i saw a stock red gto in front of me as i was comin back from getting some food, and he gave it a little gas as he went into the right turn lane. it was a little out of my way, but i decided to follow him to the right. we both turned and i got up beside him goin about 20,, he punched it first then i punched it and I pulled hard on him and passed him then shut down at about 70 where we both had to stop b/c of traffic. then he got behind me and tailgated me i guess wanting another run. there was too much traffic now to really run, and he swerved in and out to try and get into the open. the right lane ended and we ended up at a light in a 2 lane road with me right behind him. i dont like those vertical races so i was gonna cruise to the side of him and then go. he just nailed it from the light while i took off normally, he hit traffic and then I caught up and he turned on his 4-way flashers for a couple seconds, and then turned left afterwards. I just went straight and didn't acknowledge him b/c he did that ricer 4-way racing and drove like an idiot..awyways now i need to find an ls2 goat to fuck with :)

Oh would you like to loose to my Goat?
sure bro, I dont mind. :grinyes:
But seriously those ls1 TAs and GTOs are so closly matched that I'd say its a drivers race.
Stock for stock the LS2 GTO is "supossed" to outrun you but I get the feeling your is far from stock.
I hang out with the biggest Muscle Car group in South Florida bro, Ive ran a shit load of TransAms and Camaros. All I can say is there is no clear fast or slow. GTOs, TAs, Maros, all haul serious ass!

what do most stock ls2 goats actually run at the track? i never seem to see any when i go..but yeah in stock trim all the ls1/ls2 cars are pretty comparable, whether it be vettes, ta's, comaros, or gto's,, until you get to the ls7 which stock for stock is just a weency bit faster than any of those :icon16:. i wish my car had 6 more "ls"es :frown:. if anyone knows someone with an ls2 gto in raleigh/charlotte i'd be happy to give'em a run :naughty:

i think the ls2 are supposed to run 13.3, or something around there, and with musashi's mods he should be around 13.0 - 12.8, assuming he hooks up right away, but his tires spin like crazy.

Surprisingly those tires on those GTOs are pretty crappy. I have experienced it myself. I am sure putting on some nice wide wheels with some dry tires would make a huge difference.

on the track ive seen stock 6.0 GTOs run from 14.5 to 13.2.
I blame the tires. my first ever run I spun all through 1st and 2nd and hooked up on 3rd way past the 60 foot. I ended up running 15.3.
after about 4 trips to the track and 10 more passes I finally got her down to 13.8 fully stock.
after mods I nailled a 13.5 but my problem is launch. No matter how many techniques I use I always spin the tires. my best 60 foot is 2.283!
maybe next summer I'll get some drag tires and try again.

Ehh, that's not bad for street tires. Your 1/4 mile is right on par with where you should be considering Florida's heat and humidity.
The question of what an LS2 GTO should run depends on the track. If you go to Luos's Bandimere Raceway you'd be lucky to be in the low 14's. Most of the people online running low 13's, or high 12's, are at Sears Point or E Town. Some tracks have negative density altitude, which makes for extremely ideal conditions that drag racers don't put within their results page (Yeah, i'm just a great driver, eventhough I was at -1000DA and had a horrible 2.3 sec. 60').
Nice kill on the LS1 GTO. Honestly I don't agree with people believing that the LS1 GTO is as fast as the LS1 F Bodies. They weigh more, and despite the advertised horsepower, are making the same power at the wheels as the old LS1 F Bodies. I'm sure that with your torque converter you can get off the line pretty well.

Lets not forget the the GTO is handicapped by its stupid Tourque Management program. All that power and you cant apply it! :banghead:
the monkey math they use on the stock PCM is rediculous!
when I tunned my shit I delleted the torque management, Ive been like that for almost 6 months and havent broken shit! IN YO FACE GM!

Actually the guy that dyno tuned my WS6 stated that I had torque management. The car ran alot different once I got it back from the tune. It was like owning a different car.

I'm pretty sure my LS1 Z28 had it as well, the car seemed a bit sluggish through 1st gear, it didn't seem to wake up really till 2nd gear. It felt like it was holding itself back even with the TCS off. It'd still break away, but not as easy as it should with the power it made.
I think it was only in 1st gear too, cause sometimes I'd do a turn and burn around a corner in 1st and the car seemed to bog down a hair fighting itself. And if I did it in 2nd gear it break the tires loose... 2nd gear was the magic drift gear. Fun times.:)
... then I broke the rear end. :(

Torque management sucks yo, I let the balls hang free!
And the TQ management is pressent even with the TC off. even in third gear the thottle body was still shutting down 6% of full throttle up untill 4200 rpms at WOT.
In first gear WOT shut down 14% of the butterfly beacuse of TQ management.
wonder why I couldnt nail low 13s now???? :screwy:

maybe you should put double sided tape on your tires. it might help. haha. prob stick to your tire and make you say yuck when you wash the goat.
isn't their some kind of liquid you can put on the street that will let you get grip like crazy? i remember that guy with the supercharged truck did that with their ss camaro or somethin he bought for a daily driver, but then started modding it. the camaro was red on drag slicks, racing some mustang or somethin. its in some thread way back.

Yeah I definitely have to agree. I was like wtf is wrong with this car. It seemed like mustangs were burning me outta the hole, and it wasn't due to traction issues. Once I got the car tuned I more or less slaughter people outta the hole. I raped an A4 LT1 Camaro soo bad outta the hole it wasn't even funny. I swear it just makes a world of difference. I've heard the C6 Z06's torque management is abnormally restrictive. If I ever got one, that would be the first thing to go.
