melted valve cover!!! wtf

i smelled somethin funny from my 2000 monte ss...its been goin on for weeks...now...i just tracked it down to what looks like a valve cover that melted over cylinder #6 ..it basically warped the corner looks melted etc...my question is why would this happen..i mean is that cylinder possibly too rich/lean cusing it to throw out too much heat?

Exhaust leak in that corner?

No leaks seen or heard...thats what baffles me...its almost like the manifold got way too hot on that 1 cylinder

hel if i know unless you got headers on it and there bent differnt on that side??? but you got me if that's not the case....good luck to you...

Its the factory manifolds...i was jus amazed that the corner would be warped to the point of a possible leak , i mean it looks melted, yet the spark plug loom plastic is fine which is right above it..who knows..im jsut wondering if i have a possible misfire in that cylinder that would cause the manifold to become hot, or its too lean..i might hafta pull the plug and look at it

yah you might want to pull that plug..but this is a new 1 on me..good luck tho...
