it will run and stay running. it idles almost smooth. it started just out of the blue going down the highway, when i came to a red light it started. as I take off it will go but acts like if i'm in the wrong gear. it will do this in every gear. when i get to higher rpms then normal and let off the gas just a little bit, it will smooth out until i switch gears and it does it all over again. i've replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs. the pump was replaced about 6 months ago. any suggestions?

I've replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs. the fuel pump was replaced about 6 months ago. it stays running, there are no engine lights, its been driving like this for about 2 wks now and nothing has got better or worse. would it be injectors even though the engine light hasn't came on? it changes gears fine so i dont think it could be the clutch. just when i'm driving if i let off the gas just a little in smooths out until i try to speed up again.

money says its plug wires. had this happen, spark cant make the jump at low RPM's, but has more power to jump the gap at high R's. could just be loose, or corroded, mine were split. check all connection points then inspect for splits and cracks.

I had this exact problem a few weeks ago, I changed all kinds of stuff, and what finally fixed it was the spark plug wires. Now, it runs smooth as ever. Hope this helps.

I'm finding I have a similar problem. The main difference is that when my car runs poorly, all my running lights and turn signals are on. Also, to add some confusion, if I unplug my tail lights, the engine dies.
I think I need an exorcism.
