Ok, many of you may remember the "Operation Weight Reduction" and the sig dealies. Well, it seems to have sorta died off and I (for one) got off track when I hurt my knee. Well, in light of the New Year and a chance to start over, lets get this shit rolling! Heres what I would like from everyone.
Post up your current weight, height, goals, and what you are doing to get it off. You also may want to include other things too. Then, as updates become available, post up your new weight, change since the beginning, change since the last update, and time since last update. Like the first post, other things, such as change in max on bench for example, you may want to post up. Heres some examples...
1st Post:
Weight: 286 lbs
Height: 5' 8"
Goal: 200 lbs
Method: Skating and jumping jacks
Update:
New weight: 249 lbs
Change since beginning: 39 lbs
Change since last update: 22 lbs
Time Since Update: 9 days
I need to check out my shit so I will post up my real stats later.
This contest is going to start at January 1st 2007 at 12:00:01 AM and run through April 30th 2007 at 11:59:59 PM. Be sure to check in during the last couple days of April as a final update, if not you last update will count as your final weight. I will keep a tally on who is doing this and try to PM you as a reminder.
Before and after pictures would be cool too.
One thing though guys, lets be honest about this.
I dont have anything for the winner and since it would be so easy to cheat we wont have one, but it would be really cool to see some of change our lives and that should be reward enough. Winner gets bragging rights I suppose.
Take it easy guys, and good luck!

Ok, got my shit for my current weight.
Start------------
Weight: 220
Height: 6'3"
Build: excess fat, but pretty much on the midsection only, not much muscle, not very well toned
Method: Running, push ups, situps/crunches, lifting once I get back to school, eating less and eating right
Goal-------------
Weight: 180
Build: not big, just moderate mass and toned, 6 pack
Also, I will keep a running tally in the first post of people that joined, what they started at, and where they are.
Keep in mind guys, this just isnt for the people that are overweight. People that want to gain weight, stay the same but get in better shape, or people that just want to get in better shape regardless of what they weigh are welcome too. This is a general get in shape movement. I'm going to sticky this soon enough too.

I don't have any pictures, but I used to be in shape really good. And that muscle is still there. Everyone says I have football plaer shoulders, because they're wider across than what most people my height/weight have. I have a 6 pack, but no always defined the way I want it. I want a bigger chest, and biceps and arms all around. A bigger neck would be nice also.

Method: I'm going to eat like a motherfucker. I got a good start since Christmas when there was a ton of food around, so I may be slightly heavier than what I posted but I will go from there anyway since it seems to be so hard to gain the weight and then keep it. I will also start lifting weights 2-3 times a week when I get time and back at school.
I like the idea of this thread. The world (United States) is becoming so fat nowadays, it's things like this that will drive people into becoming more healthy and improve their lives.

Thank you. Its weird, the last two years of my life, I noticed a few people gaining weight, but easily 3-4x more people were losing weight including three major weight losses in my show choir alone. Well, since I left for college it seems almost everyone that graduated stacked on a couple. That and a special new girl is enough motivation to get back into it. I cant wait to get on the scale and see my goal met. I am into the pushups and crunches and I have to say it feels good, I can definately tell a difference. I am eating considerably less, and for the most part I am eating better. The second I hit 180 straight up I am going to go back to my room, take my after pics, and post up. Good luck everyone.

Update!
New weight: 207
Change since last update: -8lbs
I just worked out and weighed myself, I'm nearing 200! Ok guys, I have tried everything and yo mama to lose weight. Atkins, vegetarianism, eating once a day, anorexia (not too proud of that), etc. Pretty much all but bulemia. Well guys, since this last Saturday I have been eating 4-6 times a day and 300-400 calories each time. Its working great! Granted its hard as hell, I am always hungry, but its working so good! Even on that week when I ate nothing I only lost 10 lbs and I got some of that back once I started eating again. I was around 215 as of last Thursday and didnt start losing until Saturday. About 8 lbs in like 5 days! Weekly updates from me from now on. Good luck guys!

I wish I could get motivated enough to get serious about working out. The beer kicks my ass, and it seems like EVERYTIME I get serious about getting back in shape, my grandma sends a huge ass jar of her homemade ginger-snap cookies. I could die for them and absolutley cannot resist. And the tub of puppychow the comes along with the cookies doesn't help either....
Thor06

Oooooooh, I am a sucker for puppy chow. Fuck'n Garrett, now I am even more hungry than normal. I've sworn off chocolate, icecream, and all the other junk foods and meat for a while. I havent decided how long, either til my goal is accomplished or maybe a set date like March 1st or something. Either way, its going to be a long ass time.
The time is now man! Just think about it for a while, realize how bad you want it (if you do) and get things to use as motivation when it gets hard to do. If you change your mind, just post up and I will get you in the list.

Well guys, another update (I couldnt wait until Wednesday :)):
New weight: 205 (was 207 but I peed and took a massive shit immediately afterward)
Change: -2
Mainly I wanted to ask a few questions and share a few things I sorta found out lately. First off, I know to be more toned you want to do lower weights and higher reps, but what constitutes higher reps? 8-10? 14-15? 20-25?
Secondly I wanted to share a few pieces of info I found recently. First off, when working out you might want to throw on a few extra layers. That'll make you heat up and sweat a lot, hopefully lose a little extra weight. Also, I would recommend using a calorie counter to help you keep track of your food intake. It can be kind of an eye opener like, "Whoa, I am eating a lot." I used to use one, it helped in the first like 20lbs I lost. The one I use is free, but a lot of nice features (such as showing daily totals) are only for Premium memberships. They arent that bad though, its like $5 a month, $20 for 6, or I think $35 for a year. Here (http://www.my-calorie-counter.com) is the place I use.
Also, I finally ran a mile without pain in my left knee! I am happy, hopefully by Febuary I can be in full swing for Grandma's Marathon this summer.
So whats been happening with you all? How goes the fight?

Usually lifting 3 sets of 8-10 reps until you can't hardly do that last rep will gain muscle. When I'm in toning mode, I usually do 15 reps, but 4-5 sets instead of 3, this will build a little muscle but tone much more than build.
I also like that you brought up calorie counting Dustin. If any of you haven't every counted "actual" calories in a day, do it. It's an eye-opener. People don't realize how many calories they can consume in even ONE MEAL, none-the-less a whole day!
One thing I disagree with is putting on more layers. The only thing sweating does is decrease body weight by loss of water. The instant you take a drink of water, it immediately increases that lost water back. The only reason people do this is when they need to lose that .1 lb for weight restriction purposes, otherwise sweating is only a loss of water, and gets put right back in.
Also I would like to add, www.askmen.com is a great site for some intersting articles about your love life, health, weightlifting, and even what the current dressing trends are (plus a TON more articles), it's just an all around sweet site. I don't know if I've said this before, but I'd suggest checking it out for those of you who are open to new ideas, it's very interesting and gives a new viewpoint on some things that have been drilled into your brain since childhood.

Update for me... I'm up to 151 pounds... :)
So far its a combination of fat and muscle. I've been trying to work out as much as I can just to keep it all from becoming just fat. Gotta keep it toned up and then some.

UPDATE:
I'm up to 157. Not any huge gain, but it's a few weeks after the holidays now and I have held that couple lbs. that I got from eating so much. Not working out nearly as much as I would like, but with 17 credits + working ~20 hours a week, it dosn't leave me a ton of time. I'm still trying to eat as much as possible though.

Alright, I've made a decision that my fat days are over (well, not fat because I'm really nothing more than really out of shape, but it give me more motivation :))
I'll probably be updating this like every day, just to keep my mind on it. I'm done with pop. I had my last bottle of Mt. Dew at 7:00 this evening. My days of eating out and ordering a shitload of food are over (and it's draining my expense account). I just decided it's time to get back in shape, I'm sick of not being able to wear the shit I used to and look like I used to (and I needa look good for Spring Break).
My official starting weigh in was 177.6. It was a digital scale so I don't know how much I trust it, so I'm going to buy a new one tomorrow. I'm also making myself a weeky meal plan and workout schedule that will sit on the wall right in front of my desk, so I'll see them every day. It's just time for a change.
Tonight my exercising went as follows: Warmed up on the treadmill for 15 mins, ran 1 complete mile @ 7mph, and cooled down for 15 mins. Then I hit the bike. I biked for 7 mins at a little over medium intensity and then did a 1 minute cool down at easy intensity. And let me tell you, god DAMN did my legs burn after that. I used to be able to leg press a shitload (outlifted all of my hockey team on the leg press), and I used to be the fastest skater on the team. I didn't realize how much my lack of exercise has affected me lately. But it's over now. A fresh day awaits me tomorrow morning.

Fuckin right Garrett! Good for you homie. I'll put you in the progress part in the first post.
Time for me to update again :). I jumped on the scale today, 201 bitches! I am back! I took some pics the other night, I can really tell a difference. My gut is now a smaller amount of fat and some excess skin, my man boobs are now pecs with a little excess skin, and my face/neck/jawline are more defined. I love it.
Not eating meat sucks hard core, its sooooo tempting to grab some pizza or a sandwich at meal times, and it fucking sucks especially when I work. My favorite food, breakfast (all of it, I am very impartial, I just love it all) is served all the time I work every other weekend, another personal favorite happens on Tuesdays (tacos), and Thursdays are bar-b-que night. I love bar-b-que sauce and I havent had any meat in a little less than a month so not eating those is super hard, but I get through it. Once I get to 180, I will start eating those things again in moderation.
This really cool girl that I have soo much in common with and that I work with every shift I work and her appearant liking for some pretty boy douche bag are pretty good motivation to get 'er done. Also, as weird as it sounds, one of my friends' mom is a big motivation. Shes super sweet and has never had anything remotely negative to say to me. She always complimented my dancing when I was in show choir, sometimes thinking of her saying that was all that kept me going. My old show choir homies are another big influence. They have seen the best and worst of me and before Christmas it was getting back to the worst of me. Getting back down for them is another big motivation. Also, one of the biggest motivations is I AM GETTING CHECKED OUT! Its fuckin great, I am sure all you hot guys get used to it, but its flattering as hell to me. Granted the girls checking me out, talking to me, and hitting on me around like super models but I dont give a shit. Before girls wouldnt even make eye contact with me on the street or in the halls, now (especially when I wear my contacts, have clearer skin, and are pretty clean shaven) I occasionally get a smile and/or a "hi." I dont know, its just the titsiest feeling in the world. Anyway, my 40-hour-with-no-sleep ass is done rambling. Take car guys, keep fighting the good fight.
Oh yeah, Garrett I need a goal from your ass.

You are the MAN, sir. Just keep at it. There's no feeling like it! It brings with it a rush of self-confidence and just a new outlook on so many things. I was a skinny little runt back in the day. I was the tiniest baby in the family, and even when growing up, I was always the shortest and smallest kid in the class. All the way up till senior year in high school when I started pumping weights. Man, it just change my life. You know the feeling, because you just described it, and it's awesome that youre making these changes for yourself. As you start seeing more and more results, you'll be more motivated to reach your goal. It's a self-feeding mechanism that will never fail as long as you are focused and consistent with it. Cheers to everyone in this "program" thing!

Update on me:
I'm not doing much now. I have no time to work out and it's just not working out right now. Current weight is still the same. However, I've been doing pushups and situps at night, and I've gotten shaped up a little more. Like my stomach and the litte lines going down on the stomach to the middle by my legs... that's more defined. But that's about it. In the summer I'll be working harder. Me and my girl are going to be working hard on getting in shape better and doing stuff. So it'll be good then. Until then, no more updates from me. I'm dropping out from the race. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Update again, today I hit 198. I've been having some trouble controlling myself, particularly when I get this really good bread. Still losing though, and thats good. I am going to hit it hard this next week and see what happens. I'm excited, this is the lowest I have been in a long time. Cant wait to see me at 190 :).

I'm down to 172, not a whole lot but it's definitely a start. I haven't been eating like I should. I quit with 90% of the junk, but I still go out to eat on the weekends with the buds, but limit myself now (unlike before). God I love losing weight.

Well, I dont have a new weight (because I havent weighed myself) but I have an update. Last Thursday was a rough day, it just sucked ass. And I had some meat. With that out of my system, I have been being better and I am losing more, I can tell. I am smaller in my cloths and its almost annoying how much some of them dont fit anymore. When I got this belt I had to use the second notch from the end. Well I am now down to the fourth notch so that is good. My weekly milage is increasing, but I am not eating much more. I went 10 yesterday and I didnt hit the wall until about 8.5 into it. Until then I was holdind down 9:00-9:20 miles then from like 8.5-9.5 I had a 10 minute mile and the last half mile I picked it back up to 9:15 or so. It was painful, but I got 'er did. I am happy, no ITBS pain! Taking that 10 miler with no problems cured me of my worries about playing ultimate again. I am still going to take it easy, but I am going to Georgia for spring break for a tournament. I plan to get a few good higher milage runs in there too, maybe the last day we are there I will hit up a 16-18 mile day. I am still getting more female attention, my lab partner and I are getting together Wednesday for a good two hour study session before class :). I am going to go hard core on this weight reduction here until a week from Friday and not weigh my self until then. I was around 197 last Frieday, I am just hoping to be less and 188 by a week from Friday. I think its a good, achievable goal. So yeah, in about a week and a half there will be a new weight for Thor.

Well, according to a scale I was on today I'm down to 260lbs from 290lbs in november. Anyway I'm up to benching 275lbs, curling 150lbs, squatting 350lbs, ect. I've toned up quite a bit and have gotten quite a few compliments about it. Just the other day there were a couple guys in the weight room that told me they wished they were build like me. The other cool thing is the pants that used to fit me perfect now fall off without a belt, and the pants that used to be a little tight now are a little loose.

Once I get a scale, I'll be adding my info into this thread cause I need some major weight reduction. :(
My goals are based on my passions in life, such as some day I want to go sky diving but to do it around here at the local jumping area you need to weigh in at less than I think 260. My other passion is obviously cars, it's not easy climbing around in cars that aren't built for the bigger crowd so I want to lose enough weight to be able to get into any car I want to without the worry if I'm going to get stuck.
Getting a scale this week.

Update again. I am still 197, but I can tell I am still losing fat. I went down a notch on my belt so I am losing around my waist, but I am taking on a lot of muscle on my legs. They look more chisled and muscular and my knee brace used to have to have a full sock wrapped around my leg under the brace to keep it on the right spot. Now, I dont need the sock and I can even move it down on my leg where its supposed to. Since running doesnt seem to be taking away from my gut as much, I am going to do abs nightly from here on out to spring break in hopes of getting into a bit better "spring break" shape. I went 30 miles this past week and it felt great. I am trying for 36-40 miles this week. I am going 12 tomorrow, I had a 12 mile route planned for outside, but we are currently sitting under an extra 4-6 inches or so of snow so running outside it out. Looks like its going to be 110-130 laps indoors tomorrow :(.
I'm getting faster too, its great. A few weeks ago I was dieing after two 9:30 miles. Well, I did 6 miles today, averaging 8:30 minute miles :). I've been doing some speedplay and hills this week, I realized its somewhat pointless to do just easy runs when I know I could be working some hills or doing pick ups through it. My long runs are slow, but I challenge myself endurance wise rather than speed wise. I was going to do a 5k on March 26th, but I am almost afraid to. I used to be able to bang out a 5k in about 21 minutes. A 5k is 3.1 miles, so I used to be able to string three less than 7 minute miles in a row. Now, though I can run long distance and higher quantities of miles per week, I have no speed. I could maybe eek out a 7:15 mile now, but no where near the 21:00 5k I used to be able to. Its after spring break, so its after I will have been doing sprinting for a week mixed with 3-7 miles per day and a 15 mile run towards the end. Anyway, done rambling. New weight on Friday.

 LOL! I am 6'3" and I dont have much trouble either. If my hair is sticking up it rubs on the headliner, but its not bad. One thing though, the seat nees to go back farther. That is one plan when I get the new seats, they are going to be set back like another inch or so.
The 12 miler was death yesterday. I didnt have enough to eat and I was getting delerious on my way back to the dorm. I was seriously scared a bit, it was like being drunk of my ass, but without the giddiness. I'm good today though, not sore at all I think next week I am going to have a bit easier of a Saturday, maybe like a 3-4 mile shake out and I am going to try for a half marathon on Sunday, 13.1 miles yo! Not shooting for any time, just shooting to get it done. I would be happy with a 2 hour time though, that means getting a 4 hour time for the full shouldnt be hard at all. I dont know about my 15 miler planned for spring break, I am probably going to be wiped out like hell from ultimate, but hopefully I can still get a 10 in. Keep fighting the good fight yall.

I decided to change my goals. Originally I wanted to tone and build muscle but today I decided to go for more of an altheltic type body, meaning I'm going to do more explosion type exercises along with running. My goal is to be able to dunk a basket ball(already can get the rim, it helps being 6'5":wink) and I want to slim down to like a 34" waist. Right now I'm getting to the point where 38" pants are getting a little baggy and 36" is still a little tight so I think thats a good goal for now. Plus then I'll be at 34x34 when I buy pants

Ok here's my info that I am Going to IMPROVE:
Weight: 404.2 lbs
Height: 6' 3"
Goals to lose at least 100 lbs. Drop down to a size 40 or a 38 and get down to a size 2XL shirt. And if you read before then you know my other goals.
Now that weight comes to a shock to me as well so no better give me shit for it. I'll do a weekly weigh in and also I'm going to fix my sig.
Good Luck everyone.

Update:
Weighed myself last night before I went to bed. A solid 160 and I hadn't eaten anything in a few hours. Halfway there...
Now I just need to lift more than once a week to start building more muscle since eating all the time has been helping.

Update as promised. I weighed in today and I have to say I am as happy as I have been since I bought my Talon... almost a year ago to the day. I strip down, get on the scale and guess what... 194 after my ginormous chinese lunch. I thought I was going to be around 200, my diet has been slipping a bit. Not bad, just for like one meal every 5 days or so. So what is the significance of 194 you might ask? I am officially in the best shape of my life. The last time I was 194 was probably 7th grade. Then I was 220 in 8th, and 250 in 9th. So thats what, six years since I have been this light... not to mention that I was quite short back then as well. I dont know guys, I am on cloud 9. I feel fucking fantastic. So fantastic I am getting up at like 6:30 am to go for a nice 6-7 mile run before I have to leave for choir. I am going to need a good shake out after ultimate practice and stairs on Tuesday. I am going to clean up my diet a bit and get a more concrete work out structure and go the fuck for it. I think Sundays = long runs 10-20 miles, Monday = short easy day or day off, Tuesday = moderate distance speed, Wednesday = stairs usually 56 floors worth :(, Thursday = mid distance 4-10 miles, Friday = ultimate practice, and Saturday = easy 3-5 miler.
I have a new lease on life yall. Heres some good words to live by...
You are only as good as you let yourself be.
Well, I am going to be mother fucking best I can be son!

Hey guys, sorry I fell behind on updating the first post. I'll get on that tonight or tomorrow.
I just thought I would throw in a little update on me. Spring break was good on me, despite the bad eating and beer that one night. I am below 190 I am almost certain, but not entirely positive. Right now, I am guessing that I am between 186 and 188. I dont know that 180 is realistic without looking manorexic, but I still have a couple to lose I think. I am back on my diet today and I am back with avengence to the distance running that I havent been able to do in a week.
I am starting on a new plan. I think I am past the massive weight loss part, now I am on to the fine tuning part of my body make over. I am now down around 30-35 lbs from Christmas, or around 60-65 on my life. I dont have a lot of excess fat to lose anymore, just a little around the belly, maybe a bit on my cheeks and neck, some on the lower back, and maybe a little on my inner thighs. I am going to continue my diet until I cant check my body fat percentage and once its at 9-11% I am going to level it off. I am going to do track practice, stairs, and ultimate practice for speed/power workouts and I am going to do a short distance easy, two mid distances (aiming for 6-10 miles), and a long distance (12-20 miles) every week. In addition to this, I am starting abs tonight so hopefully that will help the 6 pack come though a bit, and I am going to do a jumping work out maybe like 4-5 days a week. I am a taller guy but my vertical sucks. I dont know what it is now, but I can only touch like the bottom 2" of net. My goal is to grab rim by next fall, since I am usually deep look (guy that runs deep for the "hail mary" of frisbee) I need to be able to jump higher so I can get the disc. Yeah, this is all going to take a bit more time, but I stopped work and I am going to cut my slacking so I can focus more on my body and school so it should be fine.
I have a bit more motivation now too, not just for me. Theres a girl back home I like and I may try to persue. Shes not vain like that to where she would turn someone down because of what they look like, but I want to look my best for someone I like ya know?
Anyway, done rambling. I think I am going to do my next update on April 1st. That will be when I come with the pics... where I started, where I've been, and where I am now. I think I will be forever on the quest for the perfect body, but I am hoping to be almost done with the weight loss part by April. Keep pushin yall!
I'm down to 264 as of today. I've been eating like crap lately, mostly because we dont have a kitchen due to remodling but also due to my lake of will power and disiplin as of late. I attribute the weight loos to me running/jogging/powerwalking/lazy walking around 10 miles for 4 nights over spring break and now instead of driving to the gym after school I run the mile and a half 2 miles. My goal was to be built and be around 250 but I've gotten more into basketball so I stopped weightlifting for the most part and I'm now focused on doing body weights(push ups, sit ups/crunches, dips, running, ect) in the hope to lose more weight and I am also trying to increase my verticle. I'm pushing 6'5" and I'm half black so jumping comes kind of natural lol, but seriously I can hang on the rim but I cant get enough to get the ball in there to so thats my goal. So I think I'm going to shoot for 230ish now. I think that is a good weight to be toned at espically for my height. By the way Dustin how did you do in your ultimate frisbee?

Another update. Down to 257 as of today. I've dropped almost 10 pounds in under a month and I am really starting to see results. My chest stomache isnt as toned as I would like but everything else is coming along nicely. I've been running for about 3 miles 3-4 times a week but that has been postponed due to the recent snow, but I will be back on track by monday hopfully. Other than that I bought a pair of those strength shoes, so hopfully that will help my verticle. Incase anyone forgot I started this weighing 290lbs and my original goal was 250. How's everyone else doing?

So I really haven't been dieting in a while up until I moved 2 weeks ago. Well since my knee injury 7 weeks ago I've been enlightened on how bad alot of weight can be on a knee. So a week ago I started the "Meat" diet, basically all you do is eat meat because it has no carbs in meat. So I've done just that, I've eaten only meat for a week and a half and I started at 404.2 lbs (a lot of weight) and I weighted myself today in at 393.2 lbs...11 lbs!! So this gives me a lot of confidence now that I'm seeing results. I'm going to continue this for a while and very soon I'm going to start a routine at the gym. So theres my update.

Yeah, I am not as good as I used to be either. :( I got down to a solid 195 for a while there, then the end of school hit. I was awake from 6 am until 2 am with atleast one all nighter per week during the week and then I would get like 8-10 hours on the weekends. Being up all night like that I would get hungry in the middle of the night and sure enough, there is nothing remotely healthy in the vending machines. I tacked on a couple there, and coming home sure as hell didnt help. For one, my mom buys and cooks food that is very not healthy, but for number two its been a kinda sucky few months. Long emo story, but my two best friends are getting into some shit they shouldnt and arent even the same people I used to be friends with. Anyway, I found two new people that have been existing good friends but are still stand up people. I feel a lot better now and I care about myself again. Unfortunately I have tacked on a few extra pounds again but hopefully I can get back into shape for school.

I quit lifting at the end of the school year and never really gained any weight. I was feeling stronger but now that I haven't lifted weights really in 2 months I've pretty much lost any strength I had gained. Oh well, back to working 60 hour weeks and never having time to eat...

Pretty sure I'm still the same weight. I still drink alot and do alot of wakeboarding, so that burns off the beer calories (I assume), so I'm still around the ~175 mark I believe.
