Turn signals will not blink

This problem started today. 2.8l v6 1988 cutlass ciera.
Whenever flipping the turn signal lever for right or left, the signal indicators will come on, but will not blink. The same applies to the exterior lights themselves: they come on and remain on but do not blink. The only way to make them blink is to move the lever up and down :banghead: There is also no clicking noise to indicate the signal flashes.
My emergency flashers work. All 4 lights will come on and flash, the instrument panel also flashes as normal.
My best guess is possibly the turn signal flasher is bad. Is this correct or is there something else that might be causing it? Never replaced one before though, is it difficult to do or a simple unplug/plugin?
EDIT: Nothing to see here, move along, move along...

as far as i know, if the flasher was bad, the hazards wouldn't work either. faulty turn signal mechanisms in the steering column are pretty common.

There is a seperate flasher for the hazards. A flasher is entirely plausible considering none of them work. If the contacts were bad, the dash lights would not illuminate.
Is this with the deluxe cluster you were planning to use? Because that could totally screw things up unless you've rewired it properly

LOL I can't believe everyone missed the "nothing to see here, move along" >_>
I took care of this days ago, just swapped out a flasher and it's good to go.
Speaking of that deluxe cluster, I haven't gone back to the junkyard to pull the harnesses for it out yet. I've been busy with work/girlfriend :(
