air suspension

any one have it and give info on who, how,what,when and where.

i sell air cylinder kits in phoenix, AZ. i know they will work on pretty much any car with a strut-based suspension. there are kits out there for hondas, acuras, mitsu, etc, but no g20's yet. basically, i offer a kit consisting of four air cylinders, electric valves, a 10 switch box, all lines and fittings, one compressor, and a 3 gallon air tank, and you can opt to add gauges, upgrade to multiple or larger compressors, or bigger tanks if you like. prices start at $2200. this setup would include everything you would need except for the mounts, which i may offer in the future. for now, there are some steel fab shops thta will make the mounts on a CNC plasma, and assuming all the measurments are right, have the potential to turn out very nice. if anyone is interested in an air cylinder kit, email me at [email protected] and we'll talk.

He's from Virginia. He used bags IIRC.

He has now removed them.

I have hydraulics (different than air bags)
10 switches, 3 wheel motion, side to side, front to back, seasaw, pancake, yada yada, 8 inch lift front, 12 rear, 3 batteries

I had cumulators on the setup so that it would ride smoother. It was all custom work. no kit

what brand are you running? i was thinking about running HiLow on my next car/truck. any preference?

hey felllas i went to north tampa customs and got a price for my 99g air cylinders (god bless em) 2800 with install coming out the door front and back motion no side to side i know for a fact this is what i'm getting i'm not really into hydrolics and everything but i know this is what i want on my g from drinving the land rover wich has it on it i know its a sweet ride and as low as i want it was so off the hook i was in this slamed rover my friends in NJ and we were at a light on the highway so i had the switch off so we hitting the ground body of the car on the floor and some guy in a pathfinder wants to race anyway makee long story short i was passing this fool while i was rising it was so banging his eyes where like damnnnnn as i was driving i was sliowly rising via switch and passing him then when we hit the next light dropped it to the ground again

i have one question should i get lowring springs for my car anyway anyway for the ormal ride hight at maximum height to still be low i dont want my rims to tuck i just want to when i lower it it sits right on the tire with like a fingernail worth of space so should i get springs and the cylinders or the cylinders will do

the cylinders will directly replace the whole strut/spring combo, so there is no need to buy springs, it is one or the other. i would also recommend going ahead and paying for the individual 4 wheel control, because when you get a front-back set-up, you're only getting 2 valves, which mean that the fronts are Teed together into one valve, as are the rears. what all this means is that when you go around a corner, air can transfer freely from one side of the vehicle to the other, and you'll get a hell of a lot of body roll, which sucks.

and for the others asking about air susp. its besically the same concept as hydros, except on air, which generally rides better. (jason i know your thinking accumulators, lol) but yeah the beauty of air is that it can be setup as fast or slow as you want, and yes, you can hop on air. mt truck does, and so do many of my friends cars and trucks. i have a few friends with civics and integras that will do a standing 3 wheel about 1.5 feet, and will hop anywhere from a few inches to a full foot off the ground. I know bags will be great on the back of the car since we have a slight camber from factory the wheels in the rear will tuck in nicely, but the front im not sure of because the fender is lined up with the tire (18x7.5) anyways im from miami fl, and theres this guy around town named powder that installs air bags, the whole set-bags,compressor etc... ready to play for only 1500 on any car....so guys i think 2200 or more is way too much for bags .....dont pay more then 1700, look around for prices

yes 2200 is more than a bag setup, but thats because its air cylinders, which is a completely different part, and much more expensive. i used to work at the Hack Shack/Excentrix Auto Ind., where we made bag kits for hondas, and i have to say that bag kits seem pretty shoddy to me. the problem is the side to side flex you get with an air bag vs the solid costruction of a cylinder. there is also the lift, you get about twice as much out of cylinders. hope this clears things up, im not out to rip anyone off.

minitrucker so rto compare your kit as oppose to north tampa customs kit for 2,800 installed what should i ask them as far as their kit should i ask the name brands of the parts or what?

yes ask them what brand the cylinders and valves are, and make sure they use the metal fittings, not plastic. also, make sure the airline is D.O.T., and find out what size tank, and how many compressors this kit includes. if you want to post up what they have to offer, ill give my opinion on it, if ive used it before. i personally have used fabco and Mac valves, and i would recommend those. try to stay away from any aim/chassis tech valves. the cylinders aim sells are called Bimba, and those seem okay.

Hey MiniTrucker... how do cylinders affect the handling of the car? Will I still be able to swing tight turns? :confused: And can set a certain ride hight for the car? EX. Could i hit one button and raise my integra 2 inch in the air, then i can hit another botton and go back to OEM ride hight? Anything that presets certain ride hights? thnx

ive put cylinders on a lot of hondas and acuras, and the handling has never been too bad. of course a set of coilovers will be much stiffer, and you cant swing corners any harder than you could with say a stock suspension. the comfort level is much better than with springs or coilovers because you get more travel out of the cylinders.

as for the ride height, its up to you to set the ride height where you want it, depending how long you hold the switch, there isnt really any way to make the car only go 2 inches or whatever on its own, you just gotta hit the switch to where you want it.

I am also interested in getting an air system. I once read a magazine where a dude setup an air system on his truck but used HP Scuba tanks instead of compressors\tank setup.

He stated that with the scuba tank, he didn't have to wait for the reserve tank to fill up between use. Plus scuba tank hold anywhere from 3000-3500 psi and only cost about $3.00 to fill and was good for a large amount of moves.

I'm interested in this setup. I think it would cut the cost of the setup becuase you don't have to buy a tank and an air compressor.

Has anyone ever tried this? Is it do-able?

str8maxn: what you saw was either a co2 or nitrogen bottle, i have one on my truck. i got a big one thats about 4 feet tall, and its mounted in my bed. i also have 3 compressors and a 6 gallon tank, because it does get pricey to keep filling the bottle every few days. so what i do is run the compressors for regular use, and when i want to hop or show off, ill turn on the regulator at around 250 psi (normal systems run at 150 or so) and i have an instant source of air, that allows me hopp if i want to.

oh yeah one more thing, isnt a scube bottle filled with at least part oxygen? i dont think i would want that in ym car due to a fire risk. the co2 and nitrogen bottles are non flammable and are used for welding.

one more question could u just post a list of parts and components needed for full setup around price too if you can this is for getting peice by peice before the setup for example if i get the full setup for lets say
$ 2200 in that deal i might not be getting the best air compressor that i could and etc.. but if i do it peice by peice i can week by week go all out on each part so i do this one time and no more u get what i'm say

so whats your truck got by the way do you have any pics to share of diff examples of stuff we could accomplish with these cylinders ...u catch my drift
