Hi guys,

Even though i couldnt meet the deadline for the SPC contest, i still went on with this project. Thanks to those who gave comments and suggestions.

Remember, this started as a normal NB kit. I thought of doing like a rice rocket but then i changed my mind when i worked on my Xanavi R34. My plan was to make a Super GT MX-5 now.
The progress thread : http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=646773

Here is a summary:
Custom Body work
Enlarged wheel wells and lowered
Hard top glued on and built "mooncraft top"

Body sprayed Gun metal and cleared with Mr.Hobby
Full carbon front end
Carbon front spoiler
Scratchbuilt flat under body with diffuser
Ings GT-wing
Wheels+tires from the Falken Skyline R32
Brakes taken from Rx-7 and enlarged and painted carbon ceramic
Holes frilled in the front
Decals from various kits
Exhaust tip from Revell
Carbon side diffusers
Scratchbuilt Full insert thingy

Full carbon dash
Race prepped interior w/ roll cage
Seat taken from Beetle Cup car.
Steering wheel from Xanavi R34 kit.
Fire extinguiser and pump casted from various kits

And that pretty much it!

The ORIGINAL kit.

Hi,

well, looking at the photos I must sigh …. :uhoh:

First: your idea for this car is absolutely great :ylsuper:, nice work on the body in the WIP thread :eek2: . Exhaust tube looks real.

However, the execution in some areas makes me wonder, what the real car would look like  .
The whole front seems to be one piece including front splitter (impossible to get a setup for different race tracks :shakehead ), the front wheels are not in the wheelwells.
The rear couldnīt be opened, no panel-line around the rear window visible, no deck lid (how could the mechanics work there, f.e. at the fuel cell ? :dunno: ).
As the car is a coupe now, there shouldnīt be a gap visible between former window frame and roof :frown: .

But, the thing at the model, that makes me frown most :eek7: , is the fixing of the rear wing. The struts glued to the wing are glued next to another pair of struts – this is very far from any realism :banghead: , even if the 1:1 car could just be seen on exhibitions and not in a race - a construction like this doesnīt exist.

So, great idea  , great work at the beginning of the project  , but now it looks as if it had to be ready just for the sake of finishing it and far away from your enthusiasm at the beginning of the project :sly: .

LOL Micha, thx! It tells me what i should do next if i do something like this again. :)

As for the coupe conversion, i didnt do the panel lines as i really suck at it. I tried doing it but i didnt turn out so nice. And I know I shouldve filled the gap but i didnt. And the rear wing stands, they might be a little crazy and not realistic but i just didnt know what else to do at that time. ( i also got the idea of the wing stands from a Tuned R33 which had that kind of setup. Stock R33 wing base with new wing stands attached to it.) Plus, i wasnt aiming for realism on this project so ididnt pay much attention to aerodynamics.

Just think of it as a concept or prototype. ;)

And also, this was kinda like a practise for my upcoming widebodied cars. Expect some improvment for my later projects.

Hi,

I appreciate your honest opinion on this project, nevertheless, when I see the efforts you put into it at the beginning, maybe you was too quick at the end of the project :dunno: .

Well, since months I am looking for updates at your Honda S2000 amuse model :ylsuper: , so letīs go on with it
