I really need some help here. I have a 95 gsx and i dont know what kind of engine to get for it. It has a small engine in it now because the stick one was not very good at all so my uncle changed them and im gonna have some money after i sell another vehicle of mine.
But i need to know what kind of engine and where to find it!
Thanks in advance!

If youve got the cash order a JDM Evo 4G63 motor, a couple websites have places to order them, or they are for sale every now and then on dsmtrader.com, if you dont have that kind of money, put in the motor it came with, the 4G63, its one of the best motors in the past 10 years. Since you are doing an all out swap I would go with the 1G 6-bolt instead of the 2g 7-bolt, just because the 6-bolt motors are a little beefier and don't suffer from crankwalk.

Peace

i think the evo 4-6 series motors can fin in the eclipse..
maybe even the 7-8 series but im not sure i mean they are all 4cyld turbo motors and they are all 4g63's so i would think that all would fit but not sure but 4-6 evo motor should fit..

7-8 motors are backwards to a 2G, meaning the tranny is on the drivers side, not the passengers side, so it would require a kit. I highly doubt if there is even a kit made, since there already is a 4G63 in the car. I'm not sure of the layout of the motors up to the 6

Pretty sure the 1-3 motors are the only ones that aren't inverse. Who really cares though? Take aves911's advice and get a 6 bolt and build it up.

would it still be street legal if i put a JDM Evo 4G63 motor in it?

As long as it passes emissions testing, there is no problem.

We dont even have any emmisions testing:thefinger

Is this for a DSM or your Honda? And signatures are not for mod lists, I could really give a rats ass how many type R parts u have on your car:loser:

no listen up, i made a thread back in the day like 2 months ago, saying i have a gs, 97 spyder, and which engine can i put in it if i bring it to my people that work on my car, and u people said its not like a honda u cant swap it, that im stuck with it and i have to rebuild my gs motor, now im hearing that i can put something in it, so please explain what i can put in it, thanks

This is getting like DSM-tuners. I'm repeating myself over and over. It may be possible to swap in the Evo 8's engine and tranny , but leave it an FWD configuration by capping off the transfer case. Please do a search , its not that hard.

First thing, 2 months isnt "back in the day," lol :iceslolan Second, the original poster is taling about a 2g turbo, not a NT. The motor is backwards in the NT. So if there is any chance of using a 4g63 its going to be in the also backwards lancers 4 and up. Putting a evo motor in a NT however is about 6543253 times more involved than putting one (or a 6 bolt) in a turbo 2g. You'll need to do al lof the usual mods when you turbo any non turbo car, unlike the guy that bought a turbo car to start with.

Now my question to the original poster is what the hell is a smaller engine for your 95? If it was a 1g, I would assume someone put the 1.8 in it. But for a 2g, the only option is a 2.0.

how 'strong' are the Evo 1-? that can fit the DSMs here?

LandoAWD

Not really any stronger than a 6bolt 4g63t from the US. But, I suppose, it would sound cool to say EVO motor to others :dunno:

ok its been a while since ive been on here but i have good news, My uncle revious owner of the car, did not have a smaller engine put in . Thank gosh ,it is the 4G63! WooHoo:bigthumb: But still no turbo.

I know someone here in the UK who blew up her Evo 2 engine, so she imported an equivalent Eclipse engine [the 6-bolt 4G63T I presume] because it was the same engine but HALF the price of an Ralliart stamped Evolution block.

She's retuned it using Evolution-spec tuning stuff and it's now running 400Bhp with no problems [altho the gearbox synchros are on the way out]

A little long-winded, but hopefully answers your question - the Eclipse block is good enough for an Evolution afterall !

Yeah , and it would fit in an Ev0-2 perfectly. But I beleive the actual Evo engines are all forged internals , versus the American spec low Hp ( 200 - 210 ) 4G63 . Evo's have always run the maximum the Japanese law would allow , 276 Hp. Apparently Mitsu seemed to think that required all forged parts , which is good , but it translates into higher prices.

Of all the poeple here that run the evo blocks I have never heard of them having forged internals. Maybe jsut in the the later versions? At any rate, aside from that, the only advanttage to getting a jdm block over a us block is that sometimes they leave the 510s in, which are a slight upgrade to out 450s, and sometimes they leave the b16g on. Other than that, its much easier to get one local, for me anyway.

Japmetal
07-27-2003, 05:08 PM
I wouldnt know about standard internals, but I suppose Ralliart gotta do something to justify the higher pricetag - but if you're planning on going for big power, chances are you'll change all the internals anyway [like my mate did] so the best bet is to get whatever's easiest to find in your locale :)

I may be incorrect , I was quoting another source. At any rate , I know for certain the Evo-6 and up have all forged parts. I was quoting from an magazine I read a while back that said all the Evo engines have forged parts. Don't ask which one it was , I have huge stacks of Turbo , SCC , Import Tuner , C/D , and R/T here. It was one of those.
