I have a 1996 K1500 that you turn the ignition to start it does nothing. You can leave the key to the run position and use a jumper wire in 2 of the holes the starter relay goes into and the truck starts right up.Also the blower motor does not work now anymore after the truck quit starting the regular way with the key.Sounds to me like the ignition switch but would like to hear from someone else that has run into this problem before to confirm this. The parts store thought it could be a fusible link causing the problem.I dont think so but had to throw that in just in case. Thanks Born

The starter relay control circuit goes like this.

From the Ign A under hood fuse to the ign sw to the crank fuse (#8 10a) in the IP fuse block to the nuetral safety switch to the relay coil to ground. No mention of a fusable link. It's not the IGN A fuse as that suppies the motor power thru the relay when pulled in. So it's probably one of the other four or wiring that's causing your problem.

Good job and thanks for posting back. In this "computer" age it's sometimes the "basic" things that need to be looked at 1st.
