A set of pony wheels would look great IMO. Maybe even some mesh wheels, think there was a 86 Saleen kit the other day at the hobby shop, I'll check again tonight when I pick up some special orderd goods I have coming!!!

^^^I hope you don't mean Out of Box?^^^

Looks like you have a handle on things Russell.
What wheels arre you planning on using?

Yes, I meant out of box, but I meant it as in it looks like it came like that straight from the factory! You can't tell it's been modified.

Alright, a little update on this guy. Wet sanded with some 800 grit to make sure all the areas that received work to this point are nice and smooth. The front bumper is permanently attached and molded in. I need to rescribe the fender/bumper line, as this is not accurately represented by the kit pieces. All that is left on the front bumper is to finish up the cross bar that holds the ford emblem, the uprights in the lower grille, and correct the rub strips on the front bumper, as they have that break in the very center. Then give it a final once over to correct any erroneous proportions and the main part of the body will be done and then its on to the glass. Time for this guy will be getting scarse as I found out today that I have to add another advanced physics course on top of my current load of quantum mechanics, advanced electricity and magnetism, and advanced electronics. If it isn't complete by spring break, expect to see a final product soon there after. enjoy the pictures and as always comments and criticism please.

The front bumper needs the molding to be shortened a bit cause it does not go all the way across like the gt. that is all that i see in the front that is wrong other than that it is spot on.

I have mentioned that the rub strip needs changing in some of the previous posts. It has yet to be adressed though. However, looking at your picture, it seems like the mustang script is the same width as it is on the rear bumper. meaning I could graft in the other mustang script cut from the side of this car....

Dave5.0
02-22-2007, 02:14 PM
Still working on this....You are making nice progress, looks like its coming together. I checked for that Saleen kit with the mesh wheels and didn't see it but was ina hurry. I'll stop in today and look again.

white97ex
02-23-2007, 11:35 AM
no pictures as of yet. I seem to have lost the other mustang script I thought I salvaged when I cut the GT side skirts off. I'll have to butcher another hatch kit....that may lead to a LX hatch conversion. I began modifying the front bumper in the rub strip area. It looks as though the mustang script is going to be a perfect fit. Now its just a matter of grafting it in. It is in the paint stripper right now to pull off all of the primer that I have on there so I can reassess the situation and to cut down on the thickness of paint. Hopefully I'll have an update soon

I saw this at the showdown, I must say, it looks pretty good. the back window surround appears to be ever so slightly to wide for the rest of the car. this may just be due to all the sanding on the primer that has been done causing an optical illusion.

none the less, it was fantastic.

white97ex
03-19-2007, 12:50 PM
well, I don't remember where I got the "mustang" for the back bumper, I thought I had gotten it from the side skirts that I cut off of the Cobra body, actually I'm pretty sure thats where It came from. I pulled out one of the new releases just now going to cut the mustang script off for the front bumper and its not there. So as of right now, there will be no mustang on the front bumper.

white97ex
07-13-2007, 12:01 AM
You all will be happy to know that this is officially thrown back in the mix. I have cleaned up some areas and hit it with fresh primer. I'm not 100% happy with the quarter windows but they will stay as they are. I don't feel like trying to save the rear window surround and hacking up another Cobra body and starting over. I'll get some pics when I have sizable progress

white97ex
07-16-2007, 11:23 PM
no pictures yet. But I have just put on what I hope to be the last of the epoxy putty on the outside of the car. All that will be left once that is smooth and the primer is smoothed out are the runners in the lower grille, and the ford emblem in the main grille. Clean up the inside, test fit the chassis, interior tub, and glass then she should be ready for the mold

spent a good deal of time on this guy today. Its probably 90-95% complete at this point. The runners in the lower grille are in. Almost all of the trash is cleaned up in the primer from when I stripped it. The interior is just about completely cleaned up. All that is really left is to scribe the panel line for the front bumper and add the runner with the Ford emblem to the top grille. I fit the Thunderbird rear glass. My plan is to vacuum form the rear glass and include it with the body. I may also form the quarter windows and mold the side windows. It looks like the 'vert interior tub is the better fit for the interior. It will require some work for the parcel shelf and final fit and finish, not sure if I will master and include those panels or leave that to you guys. If anyone can get me some good shots of the interior that would be great. Enjoy.

alright guys. This thing is complete. All that is left is to hit it with some urethane clear to make sure it is 100% smooth for the mold. I found out having the mold is going to be much more cost effective than I first thought. We are looking at a price of about $25 plus shipping. As of right now that is an estimate. I'll have to re-assess that once I have the mold done but I can guarantee it won't top $30 plus the shipping charges. As of right now this is body only. When I complete my first build up of one of these, There should be an interior tub available as well. I'll have a look at the GT/Cobra and vert interiors before I ship this out so I can give you guys an idea of what parts will be needed. If you are interested in one of these, seriously, then please e-mail me at [email protected] . The way this is going to work is the guy that is making the mold will be doing my casting. I'll tell him how many I need then he will cast them and send them out. So from the time of purchase you are looking at about a 2 week turn around.

white97ex

A little update. I hit this thing with 2 part urethane clear. 2 reasons.

1. It will help in the final finish on the resin castings. Making it really smooth.

2. It will fill in some scratches and what not after some sanding and another coat of clear.

Now for the bad news. It seems there was some trash in the pipette or the jar I used so now there is trash in the clear.....lots of it. So I've got to sand it out and re-clear. Not a major problem, as it was going to take 2 or 3 times with the clear to fill in some of the imperfections on the inside of the body anyhow.

Here is the to-do list before this is sent of to be cast.

1. clean up the trash in the clear
2. re-clear
3. finish up the rear window and the quarter glass
4. Come up with the cash to have the mold made. Anyone want to buy a 4 channel amp?

Alright, the long awaited finish shot. this thing is complete. All that is left to do on my end is to sort out the glass issues. I will be sending this off Monday or Tuesday to have the mold made. Bodies should be available the first or second week of September. If you want to order, and are SERIOUS, please e-mail me at [email protected] You are looking at $25 plus shipping. Due to the upfront cost of casting, I will require pre-payment, with a 1 to 2 week processing time. I am going to order no less than 10 bodies at a time (hopefully) from my caster, this will cut down on shipping expenses for me to recieve the bodies. PayPal and MO are the only methods I'll accept unless you are local. It will include the body, hood (the hood will be molded with the body, I am planning on removing the hood from each body so you don't have to mess with it.), Side Mirrors, Rear Glass and quarter windows. I've not sorted out the tail lights yet so you may be on your own for that one.

Here is what will be required to make a kit of this. I am going to recommend using the Lowrider/Vert kit from Revell as the interior tub is closer to what you will need. It will take some modification though, in the form of a rear package shelf. It will require you to remove the inner fender/firewall area from the vert body and attach it to the resin coupe body, this can be done with CA or epoxy.

I hope to throw together some general instructions for working with the resin, the steps needed to finish the kit, and a list of parts needed and include it with each body.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to see it. Shoot me an e-mail [email protected] It will be a week and a half or so before I start actually taking orders. I want to make sure that the mold process goes smoothly. I ordered the acetate last nite to make the windows from. You may look for the recent revell release of the impala police car for the lights

Gentlemen,

The body is on its way to Maryland to have the mold made. I would like to get an idea of how many bodies I will need to have cast initially. Please let me know if you want one, or more, or if you don't. Be sure to pass the word around. At the moment it looks like the price will be $25 plus shipping (in most instances shouldn't be more than $31 total), however, this is subject to change.

Russell

I just sent that out in an e-mail to everyone who has e-mailed me expressing interest. Just trying to get an idea of what the initial order is going to be.

Looks like I failed to update this thread. There was a mishap with the pouring of the mold and the two halves fused together. I received the body back in 4 main pieces. The Roof, the Front fascia, the Hood, and the main part of the body. The roof is reattached, the fascia is reattached and almost done with reconstruction, there will need to be an adjustment to the hood that I neglected last time. And then final clean up from putty work and the gouges from where it was cut from the mold.

There will be one change made to this body. The lower grille opening will not have the runners in it. I felt that for structural integrity while pouring the mold, they would be left out and a support bar would be placed in the middle, hopefully preventing this area of the body from coming apart while casting.

Here is a copy of the e-mail that I've sent out to those who have expressed interest in purchasing the copies of this. If you have any interest and have not e-mailed me, please do so at [email protected]

Gentlemen,

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get you an update. Work has been kicking my tail of late. I hope to have the coupe finished today and sent back to the caster by the end of the week. There has been a slight change, and that is the front end. It will not be 100% complete. There will be a support bar that will need to be removed and then the correct ribbing added into the lower grille area. I've done this, so as to help give it some support and make casting a bit easier. Hopefully this doesn't cause any problems on your end. I've got the lower grille just about complete, waiting on some filler to dry. Then I've got to sand the body to remove some scratches that occured when it was removed from the old mold. A coat of clear to seal it all up then it will be sent out again. Please let me know if you are still interested in this!

Try using some clay. work it into the opening then shape the outside accordingly, if you use some self hardening clay, imperfections can be worked and filled just like a body, then get some thermo form and press it over the buck you made.

Well I lost my job last Friday. I techinically quit
but that is beside the point. I am in the process of
finishing up the coupe of the next couple of days and
will have it out to Rick to re-cast. There will be
some details missing and some that will be less than
clear. The mustang script in the front bumper wont be
there. The ford emblem in the cross bar wont be there.
And some of the existing scripts will be a little
washed out. I hope to work out a decal kit with
someone that will solve some of these issues. All
that is left is minor clean up on the lower valance
and get the hood sealed up. I will include a list of
parts needed and recommendations for assembly once
these are ready. I've yet to sort out the glass for
this thing. Front window is easy, the side windows
will be cut from therma form and I'm hoping to work
something out on the rear glass shortly after I get
this thing back. Please let me know if you are still
interested so I know how many to order initially.

That is one idea that I have. I am also working the T-bird glass into the opening and hoping that I can get a good enough pull from the buck to fit the opening. We will see how it works out.
