Seasons Greetings,
My aerostar has had high idle since the day I bought it 6 months ago (I beleieve). The idle appears to be around 1000 rpm. I am guessing. It is significantly higher than on my other two vehicles (not Fords). I suspect there is some sort of vacuum leak. As you are aware, it is very cramped in the engine compartment.
Is there a common place to check such as a vacuum hose that has a tendancy to slip off or crack? Is there a test that i can do to determine if a gasket has gone faulty?
Could it be something else causing the high idle? I backed the idle screw off and it did not make any difference. Now I will have a prob adjusting the idle screw once the idle comes down.
I did put in platimum plugs and did not gap them (I assumed the plugs were pregapped -they may or may not be).
Please help
