Not sure about your problem. But I fucking love your car dude. I used to have an 05 Saturn Ion Red Line with a SC 2.0L. I raced an LS that had a V8 and it kept up quite well it did fall back though. I dont know if it cut out or if they let off the gas but I heard they have a 130 mph cut off.

hey, thanks man. I think the wife said it cut off at 125. but we plan on getting the programer to turn that BS off. I got every little problem fixed on this car and the new windshield was one of them. now a new one. go figure. laaaate

I seen some guy who has a ga like mine and he converted his lights to projector beams with some kind of kit and it also had angel eyes. I'd like to do that to my GA. I always thought the Lincon LS was fords attempt at poor european style. But yours looks more like a BWM with them new lights.

You should have that company replace their windshield, it is defective. No bs, I had no less than 5 windshields in mine - from the local dealer no less - they were working through a contractor and even the Ford engineer stoped by to verify the issue. It seems the rain sensor is glued on the windshield at the factory, if it's not in exactly the correct position, the sensing wipers won't work. This all started w/ a crack in my orig windshield. It was like 2 months and 5 windshields later my rain sensors finally were working again - good thing for warranties.

Joe, Thanks for the reply. My sensor isnt glued on the windshiels, only the brackets are. Is yours the same? do you know of anyway to test these things? thanks again. Dan

I heard they have a 130 mph cut off.

All 03+ LSes are electronically limited to 133mph
All pre-03 LSes without sport option were also limited to 133mph since they were sold with H-rated tires OE.

The SCT CXal2 can remove the speed limiter - make sure your tires are rated for 150mph - as a bone stock LS V* hits 147-ish, lowered and modded 153-ish

Dan - you're correct, it is just the bracket, but the bracket positions the sensor, and if the bracket is a little off then so is the sensor.

As far as testing goes - The sensor can be tested by it's voltage output but I don't know what the output should be - you may be able to review a service manual @ a local library. My sensor tested fine, but due to its position it was not "seeing" the rain and not signaling the wipers to wipe.

You can test that simply by squirting a hose onto the windshield.

If your problem started right after the new windshield was put in I would practically guarantee that's the issue. BTW, Safelite was the mfg of the new windshields.

Thanks Joe, I think we’re close to a solution here. I spoke with the glass company and they said that the windshield is an aftermarket and they can order a factory replacement. However they want me to first see if there’s some way to reset it. He called a tech guy that works with them all the time and he said that it may need to be reset for the new windshield. I did pull the fuse. The battery hasn't been disconnected in awhile. I'm hesitant to try since I believe it will do no good and my wife becomes irritated with me because I did it so many times to her when I did all the mods. But I will if anyone on here believes it will help. And of corse any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated in advance.

Today I took the car to work and went to clean the sensor and windshield and noticed that there are two small square clear pads that sandwich between the glass on the sensor and the windshield. the one was pulled out slightly so I worked it back in and went to do the same on the other one an discoverd that it was not in there!!! I assume that it stuck to the old windshield and they never saw it since it is perfectly clear. so thats where I'm at now. laaaate

Well I think there's still reason for that windshield company to replace / repair their error - the car is not the way it was before they touched it - it's their responsibility to fix it.

They said that they can get just the gel packs and there tech guy said it will make all the difference. so now I wait for those to come in. if that doesnt fix it, then I will demand a new windshield. Laaaate

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!

The glass company ended up getting me a brand new sensor and it did the trick. I know I said this a few times but thanks a million to every one on this site. this problem would never have been solved or at least this swiftly if not for automotiveforums.com. this thread alone saved me 125 bucks and thats just another one for the list.
now I just need to know how to convert my automatic to the optional "tiptronic" automatic. I am used to a stick and cant stand it doing it for me and when ever it wants. you guys know your stuff, find me a cheep solution like always. laaaaate

I'm not sure you really want the Select Shift Transmission. My '04 V8 has it, and I almost never use it because there is so much delay in shifting. It must take 1.5 seconds or so to actually shift from the time I tap it.

I just recently had my windshield replaced and the damn sensor wouldn't work either. Thanks to this forum I think we have found the problem with the clear plastic pads not being there anymore. They just ordered new and I will try it and see. Thanks for the info on this.

I absolutely hated the rain sensitive wipers on my 04.
They weren't sensitive enough even on the highest setting.
The windshield would get much too blury for my liking before they came on and then would take much too long to repeat.
Driving back from getting the car 200 miles through a rain storm I had to manually turn them on and off a lot and started getting quite upset.
Lincoln told me there was nothing I could do about this.
I covered the sensor spot on the windshield with dark tint and that helped as the manual said the wipers are more sensitive at night
but eventually I was delighted to discover that if you pull the connector off the sensor the wipers work like normal intermittent wipers.
A friend of mine knows a manager at a local lincoln dealer and he said there were so many compaints about the rain sensitive wipers they were discontinued after the 04 model year.
I'm a bit bemused reading this post but perhaps the first gen LS's worked better than mine.

I had an '04 LS and really miss the rain sensitive wipers from that car. My '07 Infiniti G35s does not have rain sensitive wipers and I think that is the feature I miss most from my LS. I thought they worked very well once I learned there were multiple sensitivity settings for them.

Maybe the sensor in my car is defective or there's some other issue.
How soon does your wiper sweep the glass in a feignt beginning rain.
I want it to sweep within 3 seconds of the glass getting drizzle on it.
I also found that if you put a switch on the power wire to the sensor you can have both the rain sensitive wipers and the regular intermittent ones depending on the conditions.
So far I prefer the regular intermittent setup.

I don't understand the switch on the power wire. Without adding a switch, you can turn the stalk switch to the intermittant position if I remember correctly. Do you have an owner's manual for your car? If not, you can download one from the Lincoln website.

I'm not sure that the wipers would be triggered in a light drizzle, depending on where the drizzle happened to hit the windshield, but certainly before visibility would be significantly impacted (IMHO).

I carefully read the owners manual.
The wipers can only be set fast, slow or different stages of rain sensitive. There are no intermittent settings that work independant
of the rain sensing or any way to increase the sensitivity other than covering the sensor eye with tint.
By a switch I mean that you hook one inline with one of the 3 wires running to the rain sensor and mount it in the woodgrain near the dash.
When you put the switch to the off position it neatly disables the rain sensing "feature" and the wipers revert to normal operation.
I want my wipers to sweep every 2 seconds when there's no more than 4 or 5 drops per square inch of light drizzle.
This is a personal preference here so I was really happy I figured out how to disable (a to me) annoying system and make the wipers work like normal.
I just posted this for those who may also find the rain sensing wipers less than satisfactory and wanted a way to turn them off.
They can always be hooked back up in a few seconds to sell the car
with this feature.
