My present was that my Grandpa didn't die.
... best present yet.
He went into the Hospital last week for meningitis which is an inflamation of the membrane that covers the brain and spinal cord... we were told that he wasn't expected to pull through cause of high fevers that might of cooked inside his skull. While having seizures at the hospital he had a massive heart attack and technically died while they revived him...
But, he's pulled through and is on a extremely fast recovery. They pulled the breathing tube out on christmas day and we were able to talk to him for the first time. Was a good day for the family as one can imagine.
Anywho... that's why I've been absent the past week. Taking care of Grandma... which means The Stig is forced to drive slow while chauffering Gramms around. Painful yes... but a good deed none-the-less.
To get here, I had to travel 370 miles through holiday and work traffic... did it in 4.5 hours, which is averaging 82.2mph.... if you've ever tried to average a highspeed over a long distance, you'll know that it's not that easy.
One of the first things Grandpa said to me when he found out how fast I had gotten to his house after I got the call that I was needed up north ASAP was "You drive too fast..."
It's a good year. :)

That's quite the christmas gift. Unfortunately, about 7 christmas' ago my grandad died of alzhiemers. The worst part, though, wasn't actually hearing that he had died(he lived with my aunts in PA), but watching him slowly lose his coherence to everyone and everything around him. We went to his retirement home once and found him giving away his WWII and Korea medals as if they were candy. Nice to hear that your grandfather pulled through though.
On a lighter note, I received an acoustic guitar from my dad(I've been pestering him for a while about one), and some really comfortable pants. Merry m-fing christmas, and may all your livers fear for their lives on New Years eve.
