Hi all.......I am new to this forum......
my problem is that my wifes 1993 325i runs fine, then all of a sudden it will loose power....we will then have to downshift it to first to get it to move....it is an automatic and seems like the trans is sticking in overdrive and not downshifting to first......no dash lights or check engine lights come on.....if we turn the car off for a minute or so, it seems to reset itself and works fine, until it does it again......this seems to be happening more and more.....:banghead:
any suggestions would make my wife and myself very very happy.....thanks

Commiserations galore!!
A similar problem was manifst in my 93 325i when first purchased last year. When starting up in cold weather i would not have 1st gear and at road speed I would not have 4th. I fretted a while, posted here to no avail, and finally tried pulling over, restarting (rebooting the computer?) and eventually simply starting the car twice if I felt it happen again.
It must be a computer problem for which I have no other immediate remedy but rebooting. It has ceased doing this, or perhaps the outside temp has not been cold enough this winter. We'll see.
Keep me posted per any success you may have.
