Trouble starting after sitting for 2 days

I have a 97 Blazer 4x4. After it sits for more than 24 hours, it doesn't want to start. Everything sounds fine, but it seems like it is either flooded or it doesn't get enough gas. The thing is, if you go at if for a long enough time, it will eventually start. After that, it is sluggish and kind of tugs for a couple miles. Then it is fine. If you turn it off it will start up like normal. It is only after is sits for a while that is starts pulling this crap. I tried putting dry gas in it and I also changed the fuel filter, but it doesn't seem to do anything for me.

The only other thing it is doing weird is that the gas gauge works fine until it reaches a half tank. After that, it doesn't keep track of how much gas is left. I doubt this has anything to do with my main problem, but I figured I better mention this.

Thanks for any input.

Mileage and engine and tune up history would help.

Hard to start cold.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak.
Post back fuel pressure readings.

It could be a leaking injector flooding the engine or it could be low fuel pressure.

From the Chilton manual:

If the engine becomes flooded, it can be cleared by opening the accelerator to the full throttle position. When the throttle is opened all the way and engine rpm is less than 600, the computer module will pulse the fuel injector at an air/fuel ratio of 20:1 (early vehicles) or 16.5:1 (later model vehicles) while the engine is turning over (in order to clear the engine of excess fuel). If throttle position is reduced below 80 percent (early vehicles) or 65 percent (later model vehicles), the module will return to the start mode.

so try slamming the pedal to the metal and hold it there while cranking the engine and see if that gets you going.

It could also be a weak battery, when it sits for a day it may drop to 75% charge. The battery needs to be 100% to start. Had it happen to me. Have it checked with a load type tester. AutoZone will do it for ya.
